Yet Another Memey Thingy

Look at your LJ "interests" list. If you have fewer than 50 interests, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five interests, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five interests, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly what it is about these things that interests you so much.

Blogging: I started blogging because a friend encouraged me to do so, and quickly discovered that when thoughts or feelings or interesting bits of information are swirling around in your brain, it's good to be able to dump them onto the internet in a way that allows you to share with anybody who's interested without imposing on anybody who's not. I will admit, updating my blog page is something I tend to do these days as much because people have come to expect it as because I enjoy it, if only because LJ and suchlike fannish places have given me an alternative outlet, especially for stuff I'm not particularly interested in discussing in front of the mundane universe. But it's still interesting. (In case you missed it, btw, and have any interest at all, the blog page is now also syndicated via LJ at maximumverbosit.)

Crazy mystical alien ex-slaves: My love for Stark is well-documented and widely known. But I was watching Alien Nation a while back, and was reminded of the fact that my favorite character on that show has always been Uncle Moodri. Which led me to conclude that I just have some sort of weird thing for, well, crazy mystical alien ex-slaves. (Characters who hit only some of those categories often appeal to me as well. G'Kar, for example: non-crazy slightly-mystical alien ex-slave, and very cool character.)

Farscape: You've all heard me go on about how much I love Farscape, right, and all the reasons why? The great characters, the colorful universe, the way it subverts cliche and does the unexpected, the mixture of drama and humor, etc., etc., etc...

Internet addiction: I really do spend most of my waking hours online. I'm trying to cut back at work, because they gave us a bit of a talking-to about that, but the shiny, shiny internet keeps calling to me! And I start to get antsy if I go more than an hour or so without checking my e-mail. I think we can pretty safely refer to that as an "addiction."

Science fiction: I've loved science fiction since before I knew the genre had a name. Dude, what can't you find in science fiction? New ideas, alien points of view, adventure, excitement, sense of wonder, an ability to address important issues... big shiny spaceships...

Stupid internet quizzes: I don't post all that many of 'em here, largely because this LJ is pretty much fic- and fandom-oriented, and there aren't that many that are relevant. But they attract me like shiny objects attract cats, and you can frequently find the damn things on my blog page.
