Tomorrow, my son, "Trip" will be turning 20 months old. Before I know it, It'll be time for his 2nd birthday. It's strange that once you have kids, you quickly forget what it was like before they came along. It just seems like the boys have always been with me. Conner is sitting at about 4 1/2 months right now. I figure within the next month he'll be crawling. His brother started at 6 months, but I'm seeing some patterns with Conner that just makes me think he'll do it a little quicker.
Conner started baby food about a week or so ago. He seems to really like it. I can't say that I blame him. If I had to drink that smelly ass formula every day for months on end, I'll bet that week old cabbage in the garbage would start to smell good. Baby food is expensive though. It's not quite as bad as formula is, and Steph doesn't seem to waste as much of the baby food as formula. You don't know how many bad bottles are scattered around our home.
We did get lucky this past weekend though. Normally, baby food runs about 40-50 cents a jar. We were in Albertsons trying to buy a few things and noticed their discontinued items section. They had baby food for 10 cents a jar! I checked the expiration labels and they weren't expiring til next year at least. I told Stephanie to get them all. We weren't going to find a better deal on that. We ended up with around 150 jars of baby food. I figure that will keep Conner fed til about when his teeth come in and he can start eating real stuff.
Got the last of Conner's delivery bills yesterday. Nearly 500 bucks... Damn Arrow and your damn insurance. I sooooo wish they had the insurance I have now. Once that's paid for, that should be it for Conner. He's all ours.
"Trip" got a basketball goal this week. He loves it. He can't quite get the ball up in the hoop, but that doesn't keep him from trying. He's also picked up another quirky trait. He hides his eyes around strangers and pictures of people. He just doesn't like them for some reason. I guess he thinks he's invisible or something. He's still not really talking in words yet. He says some here and there, but not too much that is understandable. He does understand what you tell him though. You can say "Go get my shoes" or "Go get a diaper" and he'll do it. "Are you hungry?" -- To which he replies, "mmmMMMmmm". It's cute.
For a little while he was getting into the bad habit of trying to pick up his brother. He even managed to toss him off the couch one day. He got a good spanking for that one. Conner doesn't seem to hold grudges yet, because he just smiles and coos all the time.
