You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose...

I got a big chunk of shopping done today. Hopefully I'll be able to finish up tomorrow. Then there's the slight task of wrapping to conquer. And laundry, and The Cleaning of the Bathroom that needs to be done desperately. But I'm currently feeling all energized (thanks to my new best friend the elliptical trainer), and am optimistic about it all. I'm quite impressed with myself and my unknown until now ability to work within a budget and still feel like I'm splurging here and there.

Alex is not terribly healthy right now. He's had a cough for a day or two, with a mild fever. I've been giving him cough medicine just at night, so that his own hacking doesn't wake him. Today, he was grumpy. A dose of ibuprofen helped, but he's still staggering like a drunken monkey. I'm really hoping it's not another ear infection, but if he's not getting better soon, I'm going to have to take him in, and I simply don't have time for him to be sick this week, okay?

I bought a new pair of pants at Costco tonight. I gung hoed it and got a size smaller than my "usual" and hallelujah, they fit! They'll look a little better with another 5-10 pounds off (teeny tiny muffin-age happening), but still. They did up without any gymnastics on my part, and were comfortable, ie: I could breathe without pain. So that's nice.

Made White Turkey Chili for dinner tonight. It was quite good. Had Jennifer's birthday lunch at Chili's (oooohhh...spooky) and managed not to blow it. I had a few pieces of the Awesome Blossom, and then watched everyone else wallow in it's greasy goodness. I drank water, and ordered soup and salad. The chicken tortilla soup was pretty tasty, but just spicy and rich enough that I couldn't eat more than about 1/3 of it. I had smuggled in my little container of homemade bleu cheese dressing for my salad, because I'll be danged if I'm going to blow 8 points on salad dressing -- I don't care how yummy it is (I did dip one of Cooper's french fries in some though). And then Uncle Bob is in town and that means everyone gets free dinner at Olive Garden tomorrow evening. If I can do this, and come off with a loss on Thursday, I can do freaking anything!

Now I think I'll watch Headlines and go to bed. Yo.
