To be fair, Tyrese Gibson was not just a high-profile guest, but also the only black person at the con at all. Can't blame folks for making the association.

(Well, the only one except the awesome bus driver who inspired the "flames" sentence, anyway.)

The first sentence was referencing the panel with Tyrese, hosted by Aaron Archer, where Aaron Archer suddenly started talking street. Like, he traded in all his normal vocabulary for stuff like "dawg" and what have you. It was hilarious. Apparently you can't talk to Tyrese without talking LIKE him.

So, yeah, with that Paper Telephone sentence, the rest of us picked up on that.

I missed that panel and never heard the story. Now I'm sorry I missed that too. As well as seeing somebody get escorted out of the Peter Cullen panel for asking him if he'd read any Prime/Megatron slash.

My only decent panel story is from the G1 writers. David Wise talked about how he was given the assignment for "The Key To Vector Sigma" verbally, his editor (or somebody) telling him he had to introduce ten new characters, and he had to use Vector Sigma. "What's that?" he asked.

"It's a supercomputer inside Cybertron that gave all the Transformers their personalities."

"Well," Wise replied, "it must've done a really crappy job."
