just trying to work hard and stay motivated. On the work hard front I have 3 papers in various states of drafts and two of them are depending upon me finishing the first one up. Yay for needing to reference your own previous analysis because no one else has been bothered.
Staying motivated is a bit of a pain as this week I: a) found out I didn't get observing time. Not by a rejection email of course, but just by checking out the observatory's website and seeing the schedule. b) found out I didn't get the postdoc. The letter directly cited not having enough funding but that doesn't really make me feel better.
Oh and this week I was at the AAS conference here in Pasadena where they were also holding decadal survey reviews (every 10 years we go over what major projects etc should get funding for the most "amazing" science). Personally I felt like it's all just giving lipservice to getting opinions of the community as the items that got picked out for extra attention seemed to all be exercises in building the biggest thing possible with the least amount of scientific return. Yay astronomers and their cases of aperture envy.
Oh and I did get into summer school, so we had our first telecon this week and will probably wind up designing a mission to go to a Trojan asteroid. Yay something relevant to something I do.
Oh and June Gloom- so not helping.
