The scorpions... I was literally cringing while drawing some of them. lol
Ooh, that's just gorgeous! What a lovely job of capturing the creepy, "alone in the dark" feeling of the story. And I love how you've broken up the edges of the art in some places to let the paper bleed into the curves of the cavern backdrop.
I'm pleased you like it. I had a very vivid image in my head when I read it, and it pretty much drew itself.

It's really fun to play around with edges and borders. It can get gimmicky at times so I don't use it in book illustration as much as I'd like but I really like it here, myself. And the cool thing about fanart, I can go wild with this kind of stuff.
