Good Weekend Home.

It's been a good weekend home. Friday evening studiodoctor and I went down to the Martini Ranch for happy hour--very good martinis and the atmosphere was small town, without the hick. Maybe it was drinking 4 martinis, maybe it was the altitude--yeah, it's always the altitude out here: takes years to acclimatize. Brian even passed the Lemon-drop Test. Consequently, I had a Mango Tango, 2 Lemon Drops and a Chocolatini. The chocolatini wasn't much to brag about; I prefer a Kiss of Chocolate from Wits End or a Snickers from the comedy club in LaCrosse, WI. *LOL* Speaking of WI, Kyle mentioned the other morning that he was missing Winona. Maybe we'll have to find time to go visit wruckster when we go back to MN. Note to self: Give Rachel a call sometime this week...can't believe I haven't told her the good news yet.

zannahope is thinking about coming out here for Thanksgiving, finances pending. It would be really nice to have some family here and I can't wait for her to visit. Even though she says she didn't like Denver when she came out here a year or so ago, I think it was just the company she didn't care for. We have to start thinking about Christmas and when we're going home. cornpopgirl: wanna carpool? We have lots to get done in MN over Christmas, besides visiting family and friends. I plan on going dress shopping and taking my girls shopping for their dresses as well, we need to meet with Greg at the Snelling Club, meet photographers, and I don't know whatall meetings Kyle needs to do for the music aspect of it all. *sigh* It's really not quite as overwhelming as it could be.

Yesterday we were very productive taking Charlie to the dogpark, hitting the gym for a few hours, homework.... It was nice to have a day where we could just do whatever. Last night we took the RTD downtown for Oktoberfest. None of our peoples were answering their phones (surprise?) or were able to go, but I'm kind of glad we went just the two of us. We had a blast meeting people as we enjoyed our brats, sauerkraut and Pauleners. We ended up meeting a couple guys that work at UCHSC, that do cancer research--cell molecular guys. One of them, Frank von Frankfurt, works with cell signaling. Good contacts to have, especially since we were talking about possible internships in the spring. Chris and Angela are good people...and it was more than shop talk. We're looking forward to getting together again sometime for dinner or something. *L* I told Kyle this morning we should go out to more festivals and such and just start talking to people. :D It's the german way, right? It's amazing the difference in personal space and what is and isn't acceptable in Europe vs. America. Do you think, as americans, we're stuck up people?

Today it's back to business. I made some blueberry coffee crumb cake this morning for breakfast. Once again, I forgot to put in baking powder. So now there's blueberry-lump cake as well as banana lump bread. Kyle's taking care of stuff at work and the studio this afternoon so that we can try out a chicken mole recipe tonight....and interpret H NMR spectrums.

home, weekend
