I went to the gastroenterologist on Monday, because of my GI problems. She was very patient and took me very seriously. First, she inquired about my symptoms and medical history, and then she examined me. When she asked about allergies, the nurse who was with me, asked about a potential gluten intolerance. My psychologist had thought of that, and she obviously isn't a doctor, but well. This wasn't the first thing the doctor thought about. Rather, she wants me to get a colonoscopy done to hopefully rule out imflammatory bowel disease and maybe find severe spasming of the colon. If the scope doesn't find anything, she proposed I get tested for food sensitivities. The scope has been scheduled for July 27. Unfortunately, I won't see the same doctor I saw on Monday for the follow-up, but I hope the doctor I will see is as good. The colonoscopy will not be fun - I have to drink lots of laxatives and other fluids to totally clean me up in preparation, and the procedure itself may be painful. They'll get me sedated and give me a painkiller, but well. I will try not to worry too much about it.
