Popcorn 2012.11.17 Osaka report
I was lucky enough to attend the second day of Popcorn in Osaka, so here's my report on it =)
I have to clarify a few things before the actual report though :
-There are definitely mistakes, because I don't take notes and my memory is far from perfect... And it also means it’s not a very detailed report, sorry ^^" Also, I still have a long way to go in studying Japanese, so I'm pretty sure I misunderstood some stuff.
-English isn't my native language, so pardon any English mistake !
-Lastly, yamakaze067 being as awesome as ever, I’m extremely grateful for her post on that day and the day before, it helped me organize my thoughts and remember things ! Thank you so much yamakaze067 =) You should also read these posts because they are more detailed than mine on some points, like the MC or how Arashi moved around.
Then, as for the report in itself ~
I was with a friend of mine, and our seats were on the first floor at the very left side of the dome, so we couldn't see the main stage properly (actually I only saw it entirely when we went down in the arena section after the concert ended). The three screens around the dome were small as well… Luckily Arashi moves a lot so we still had opportunities to see them =) (And the advantage of being the last row is that pretty much everyone ended up standing on their seat or on the stair behind it lol) On our side, we mostly saw Nino, followed by Ohno ~
As you can see the stage was pretty simple, and there were treadmills on the two alleys coming from the center stage. They weren’t used in an ostensible way though, I thought I had seen it wrong the first time, and had to look closely the second time.
Anyway, enough blabbering, here's the real stuff !

On a side note, I have to say that all the pink lights in the dark dome made such a beautiful view !
Up to you
They appeared on the main stage in boxes like in Mannequin five specials (the ones where the public votes), and started off with this song ~ I found it a bit weird, because Welcome to our party would have been so much better in my opinion to get everyone fired up right off the bat, but well, we had Arashi in front or us, so we got excited anyway x)
Choreography by Oh-chan, and they danced on the main stage.
Welcome to our party
(Okay, we did get it as second song, so I kinda forget Jun)
They moved from the main stage to the center stage with a moving stage which goes over the arena, and this song is so much fun, really. Just as I imagined when I first listened to it ! Such an upbeat song =)
Troublemaker
They were on the stage at the back of the dome, and did the choreography ^^
Greetings
It was pretty much the usual stuff : Jun asking us if we were ready to be happy, Nino with his “irasshaimase”, Aiba with his “moriagatten no ?”, Ohno mentioning a matsuri, and Sho asking us how we were ; nothing really standing out.
Ohmiya was in the hanamichi coming our way ~

I love this song, was so glad to have it ! =D

They returned to the main stage and danced it.
Water footage
This is definitely pretty ! They used water as a screen, and with lights, had various effects ~ It’s hard to explain with words, it’s really a visual thing… And it was used so much during the concert there’s no way I’d be able to remember which effect was used when, sorry ><

So glad we got it ! They started on the main stage, then moved around the dome.
Rakuen (Aiba's solo)
It was on the main stage, and Aiba and the Juniors had some fluorescent yellow parts on their outfit.
Fly on Friday (Sho's solo)
We got an introduction video, with a Japanese voice and English subtitles, asking for our participation during the song. I couldn’t get everything in Japanese though, and was too far to read the subtitles…
Sho appeared at the stage at the back of the dome, and during the song was on the moving stage, returning to the main stage.
Super Fresh
Choreography by Oh-chan ! They went from the main stage to the central one, and there, they had several “wave movements”, as in people on one side make a movement that gets copied until it reaches the other side (I can’t remember the English name for this type of movements…). Arashi was on the center stage and there were Juniors on both sides, so these “wave movements” had some cool effects ~ There were also some “bouncing movements” x) At that part, and when I saw the “pas carré”, I knew the choreography was from Oh-chan haha
A Day in Our Life
Juntoshi were cute as always ~

It was cool to have it ! It’s a fun song to do in concerts after all =)

MC
After an hour of concert, the MC began on the center stage. They started the talk on Ohno’s choreographies, and asked the audience if we had times during the concert when we thought “this choreography has to be from Ohno-san !”. Quite a number of people said yes, and they were surprised the audience was able to tell which ones were from Oh-chan. Oh-chan then explained how he got the idea for Super Fresh choreography when he woke up, like the “bouncing movement” (I don’t really have a better explanation of that movement, sorry ^^"). They also talked about the New York three days trip Ohno, Aiba and Jun had, and Nino went to Sho’s side at that time, to ask questions with him. The purpose of the trip was studying since they watched a lot of musicals, but Aiba messed up when he talked about it lol I don’t remember exactly how he called it, but it was more of a reference to a trip to have fun rather than for studying purposes, and Nino corrected him (as usual, Nino was the first to pick on Aiba-chan x)). Then, when asked what they studied, the answers went like that : Jun paid attention to the stages and all these technical things, Ohno to the dances (I think ? I’m not really sure of that one, but it was something “serious”), and Aiba-chan paid attention to… The “energy” of the performers LOL Of course, more picking on Aiba-chan ensued haha
Besides, as they were going back to the main stage, Ohno talked about his conversations with “kotori-san” (a respectful way of calling birds XD), which happened in a “big park” (he kept repeating these words). Jun specified the “big park” as Central Park, he was like “the audience most likely know Central Park, so you should call it as such” lol They also mentioned how Aiba was (always ?) the one being approached, being told “hey mate” and then had to carry a conversation for two-three minutes, even though he didn’t understand a word of what the other guy was saying of course XD
Afterwards they decided with rock and paper (in Kansai-ben) who would go back to change clothes, and Aiba was left alone x) He complained how it must have been done on purpose by the other members lol He wasn’t sure he’d be okay being the only MC while the other members changed clothes, but we cheered on him and then he promoted Last Hope, which he described as a “medical suspense entertainment” haha (He himself wasn’t really sure such a combination made sense XD) When the other members came back, they promoted Lucky Seven, Platinum Data (Nino was asked which type of movie it was, and he started answering “medical…” LOL), and Sho talked in Kansai-ben about the boat used in Singapore for Nazotoki, which had things like a casino, a stage for shows, et cetera.
We were then introduced to the next song :
Tsuite Oide
Choreographed by Oh-chan. Same outfit they wore during Wild at heart in Arafes, the bright winter jackets. I was surprised to have this B-side in the concert, but I won’t complain x)

Another surprise !
Two (Ohno's solo)
It was done on the center stage, and Oh-chan did dance, but it didn’t leave a strong impression on me though…

Video of Arashi as corn, this was uber cute and funny ! Their voices were cute, and as for the funny parts, Ohno was angry right at the start, we’re so not used to that haha He turned first into a popcorn as a result x) Besides, Aiba wanted to do something but the others didn't agree to it (even without knowing what it was lol), their bullying was really cute. Another funny part was when Aiba didn't turn into a popcorn even after he got angry (while it had been the case for the others), it was like, you expect him to pop, and then… Nothing happens LOL Afterwards, Jun said "let's go on a trip !", so it meant…
Tabi wa tsuzuku yo
They appeared in huge hot-air balloons and threw signed balls. The balloons were SO AWESOME. And their outfit as well ! (Each member had stripes in his own color) We screamed a lot when they appeared, and for a good reason ~ I don’t remember who was in what, but as for the order of the balloons : the first one was a regular popcorn box with slanting red stripes, the second one was made of different lollipops, the third one was round with Popcorn written on it with balloons and had capsule sweets shaped balloons stuck on it, the fourth one was made of several colourful candies, and the last one was a popcorn box like the first one, but with blue and red stars on it this time.
The balloons started their course at the right side of the dome, flying around slightly under the level of the beginning of the upper floor. They stopped at the back of the dome for the next song :

I was SO surprised to hear it ! Natsukashii na ~
Lucky Man
The balloons moved a bit to my side of the dome (the left one), but stopped around the middle of the left side and they got off. Have to admit I felt cheated that I was in the only quarter of the dome they didn’t pass by on their balloons…
We wanna funk, we need a funk (Jun's solo)
Jun was the only one left on stage by the end of Lucky Man, and went to a place at the right end of the main stage, while talking with a kid voice he also used in the footage as a corn turning into a popcorn. He was so cute ! Then he changed clothes right in front of us hehe Afterwards he sat down in front of a mirror (an artist one, the whole setting was like a make up room), put water on his hair (lots of kya x)) and pushed them back.
Then he sang in the main stage, and went up at some point of the song for another round of DJxMJ (here my friend and myself SCREAMED (and frightened people around us lol) because it was our favourite part from Arafes). The mixing was only about We wanna funk, we need a funk though, so that’s a pity, but well, Jun is still so cool as a DJ ! I hope he’ll keep doing that, and preferably mixing Arashi songs ~
Sore wa yappari kimi deshita (Nino's solo)
Nino was playing the piano on the upper part of the main stage which was on our side, so we got lucky ~ The video played on the screens was a mix of the actual performance and Niji performance, and the Niji images were in brownish colors. The outcome was pretty, I liked it a lot ! Besides the whole thing suited well the song since Sore wa yappari kimi deshita is Niji’s sequel. At the end of the song, we also got a niji with the water screens =)
Refrain
I wasn’t expecting this song, but I like it, so I'm fine with it ~ There were lots of effects with the water, and they were holding umbrellas for the choreography. Another beautiful setting ^^ Sho was the closest to us, being on the upper left part of the main stage.
Face Down
They went from the main stage to the center stage on the moving stage. When they were in the center, white fire and fire with AMNOS colors were used, it was so cool ! The video on the screens was in brownish colors again for this perf. And really, the dance of this song is kakkoi ~
Oh yeah!
Soooo fun =D Everyone was hyped !
Love so sweet
Nothing much to say, except that I love this song so was obviously happy to have it ~
Your Eyes
Balloons were lifted up around the dome (see picture at the end of this post) during this song, and we were all “ohhhh ~” when they got lighted up in red. The members were in towers, Nino being the closest to us (he was near the end of the left alley coming from the center stage), Ohno was in front of the center stage, Sho was on the same level as Nino but on the right side of the dome, and at the back of the dome there was Aiba on the right side and Jun on the left side.
Waiting for you
The balloons changed colors during this song, it was very pretty ! They started yellow as Nino was the first to sing, then switched to purple when it was Jun’s turn, and so on. Since the balloons changed colors one by one though, they got behind a bit x) But at some point (from the chorus onward I think), they were just randomly changing colors. The balloons stayed up until the end of the concert.
Wild at heart
So so so fun <3 Nino used Jun as a puppet, making him point randomly in the audience, and then they inverted the roles ~
First encore
Carnival Night
They came out with t-shirts with Popcorn and stuff written over it, and my friend and I were so jealous ! Why didn’t we have a t-shirt in the goods T_T
Jun and Oh-chan moved on the hanamichi from our side first, so we got Nino, Aiba and Sho at the end of the song ^^
Fight song
It’s definitely a fun song to do in concerts, since it raises everyone spirits up =)
My Girl
I like this song, and when I had listened to it a bit before during the day, I had thought how nice it’d be to see it live ~ Well, wish granted x) They went back to the main stage during it.
Double encore
When they appeared again on the main stage, they did the thank you speeches. It was kinda weird to have them at that moment, but well. They were short and pretty much the usual stuff (it was fun, etc.). Order : Jun, Nino, Aiba, Ohno, Sho. Some fans were being disrespectful at that time, screaming the name of the member speaking. It was to the extent where I couldn't hear Arashi sometimes… During his speech Nino even made a comment in the lines of “You don’t have to say that (my name)”. It wasn’t a mean comment or anything, it made us laugh, but it didn’t stop the fans from screaming unfortunately…
Besides, Aiba being himself, he made a mistake and mentioned today as the last day lol So the other members corrected him immediately and picked on him, with remarks like “oh so you’re going home tonight Aiba-san ?” haha
After Sho’s speech, Jun teased us, asking if we wanted more, and put his hand around his ears to hear us shouting. A big scream ensued of course ~ He was like “This is just for me right ?” (insert bright smile here), and they joked about how much we screamed, just with hands being put around ears. Jun tried it again, and we obviously shouted loudly. (By the way, Sho also tried, but Jun was speaking at that time and we didn’t expect it, so he couldn’t get as much kya as Jun) Jun announced a song with a winter feeling, and it was…

They made us sing the last chorus ~
Happiness
I don’t really remember it, except for the fact that it was fun x)
I didn’t check the time when the concert ended but it must have been around 9 pm, since at 8:40 pm we were still screaming for them to come back for the second encore. On a side note, the sound was pretty bad at times, there was a lot of echo, and their mics were not always working correctly… (Near the end, when they were on the hanamichis, Jun and Aiba had a few problems being heard for example) I hope it was just on our day, and that it wasn’t a recurrent thing for the three days in Osaka !
As for the concert in itself, I was a bit disappointed that we didn’t get songs like A.RA.SHI, Kansha Kangeki Ame Arashi or 5x10, because these songs are must haves for me, but I do understand that we can’t get everything every time ._. I’m really lucky already I was able to attend Arafes…
Anyway, all in all Popcorn was really fun, and I can’t wait for Tokyo and Nagoya !

I didn’t check the time when the concert ended but it must have been around 9 pm, since at 8:40 pm we were still screaming for them to come back for the second encore. On a side note, the sound was pretty bad at times, there was a lot of echo, and their mics were not always working correctly… (Near the end, when they were on the hanamichis, Jun and Aiba had a few problems being heard for example) I hope it was just on our day, and that it wasn’t a recurrent thing for the three days in Osaka !
As for the concert in itself, I was a bit disappointed that we didn’t get songs like A.RA.SHI, Kansha Kangeki Ame Arashi or 5x10, because these songs are must haves for me, but I do understand that we can’t get everything every time ._. I’m really lucky already I was able to attend Arafes…
Anyway, all in all Popcorn was really fun, and I can’t wait for Tokyo and Nagoya !
