I like so many of the people I know that watch SV are currently mourning the the fact that Allison Mack/Chloe Sullivan will not be returning as a regular for the final season of SV. Let me start at the beginning the first time I saw previews for SV I thought that it would be just another Superman show. I didn't hold out much hope that it would last very long and was only semi-interested on the night it first aired but then I saw Tom Welling which let's face although this is Chloe/Allison Mack rant was the reason I didn't turn the channel immmediately. And then there was Pete the best friend eh not to interesting and then BAM! AM/Chloe the snarky, pretty blonde who made me laugh almost from the start and later on fall in love for so many other reasons. But like so many other teenage dramas you have the hot guy/girl the hot guy/girl that they're in love with and the best freind that's in love with hot guy/girl #1 who can never quite see them past hot guy/girl #2 until later seasons. And that has pretty much been the life and times of the charcter of Chloe Sullivan throughout the series. And you know what that was fine because long before becoming Watchtower she was the ambitious highschool newspaper editor with a determination to reach her goal to become a pulitzer prize winning journalist for the Daily Planet.
And this is wear the hard stuff starts. Chloe Sullivan the girl who's lifelong dream is to be a reporter gives it up to protect her best friend and not so secret crush. And even as your a little peeved at her giving up her dream for someone who IMO never really appreciated it you understand b/c who hasn't given up something they really wanted for some one they loved. The slaps in the face for the fans, AM and the character of Chloe Sullivan come when her cousin Lois Lane who never really shows an interest in reporting sleeps her way into a job and later is joined by Clark Kent who was equally uninterested in reporting! Some people would say that fans knew this would happen b/c CS isn't really supposed to be apart of the story but I say screw that b/c it's not what the writers did but continually how they did it!
Besides all of that was the continually ignored or dropped pairings for Chloe they are as follows and while some kind of creep me out I am aware that there are people that truly wanted and even pushed for them.
Chlark Chloe/Clark
Chlex Chloe/Lex
Chlete Chloe/Pete
Chlionel(shudders)Chloe/Lionel
Chlart Chloe/Bart
Chlavis/Chloom Chloe/Davis or as I like to call them one of the biggest dropped opportunity SV has ever had!
Did not list Chimmy Chloe/Jimmy or Chlollie Chloe/Oliver as these were/are actual pairings along with various other guest stars.
The final insult to fans comes with the final season which we shouldn't really be surprised we've been spit on and pushed aside for 9 seasons why not save the worst for last? After months of trending and overwhelming show of support for our girl and the desire to see her in every or almost every ep in the last season we're told that we'll only get several! Well I for one will ONLY be watching the eps with AM/Chloe in them she's the only thing that's kept me coming back year after year season after season. Through all the disappointment and hoping that we would finally get not only a relationship worthy of our girl we finally get Chollie and we only get a few eps to enjoy them this season so let's hope that the writers take the few eps that AM will be in and give her not just a proper send off but a proper build up to the send off! AM/Chloe is already legendary and this is one fan that's hoping for a push to make Chlollie EPIC!
