Teen Wolf

Binge-watched the first three episodes of Season 4 Teen Wolf today. So far, I like it but I had hoped after Season 3.B, they have somehow learned how to build and pace an exciting plot. Alas...

I`m guessing the over-arching plot are Kate/whoever stole the Hale family fortune/mouthless monsterkiller/the Mexican hunter family? Which means right now it`s a hot mess. 3.B was so good with its focus on Stiles/Nogitsune. The build-up worked and short of a bit faltering there at the end the pace was fantastic. Why didn`t they learn from it?

Character-wise, the Beacon Hills Scooby Gang are one of the most likeable group on any show right now. I like that Scott really has a "pack" of friends, rather than a pack-pack. It helps me to ignore this true Alpha stuff. You know, they made the character so likeable and improved him greatly from Mr.Stupid of Season 1 and then they bring in this Sue-bullshit. I have such a low tolerance for Sue-ness right now, the slightest wiff of it turns me against characters so fast.

Scott just being Scott without the pimpage works way better for me. And his apparent story about biting someone finally has potential. And his friendship with Stiles is fantastic. Ironically in canon there also seems to be way more of a tie between Scott and Derek then there is with Sterek, the big fandom pairing. I mean, Scott is usually the one who goes anxious over Derek missing/possibly being hurt.

A bit disappointed they are ignoring the events of 3.B so much. Stiles appears to have forgotten completely. Noone even mentions Allison`s death. I thought both events would be acknowledged in some way.

I liked Kira last Season and like her now. Her being paired with Scott is cute. But the director(s) need to get over this fetish of having her strike slow-mo poses with something, from sword to lacrosse stick.

Like Malia, too, and the dynamic with Stiles are cute as well. It gets played a bit like Anya and Xander at the moment, especially with her social ineptness due to the way she grew up. Which, btw, how is she in school with them? I get that outside of their circle noone knows she spends years as a coyote but they do know she was missing, right? So how in the hell is she expected to have all that school knowledge?

Hopefully, they will explore Lydia`s banshee-ness some more.

Derek? It`s interesting that he got his yellow eyes back. Does that signify forgiveness? Did he regain "innocence" (of killing) back? But I wish he`d get a storyline that didn`t relate back to his past. Kudos to the young actor btw, he brought an interesting dynamic to the character, somewhat laidback and fun. Guess that all vanished after the fire.
