Stargate Atlantis

Apart from the McKeller pimping this was pretty fabulous. And I don't have anything against the character of Keller but this pairing just doesn't work - at all. They have zero chemistry as a couple, not even much just as characters interacting. The show has not told me why Rodney would be attracted to her - okay, she is meek and sweet like Katie but wasn't the point of "Quarantine" to show that this only works initially with Rodney but is doomed longterm?

And, from Keller's side, wasn't a point of this episode how she missed the symptoms because she was so taken with the new model? Apparently, sweet and nice is what she likes/wants/is going for. Believing that somehow she can "make" Rodney into that - just like Katie. When it's clear that it won't work.

If this is the plan of the PTB to pimp Keller's character to the fans, it will only backfire. Forced pairings are usually top of the dislike-lists.

Ironically, the episode itself, despite the McKeller "reveal", showed something different on a deeper level. I mean Rodney ran to John in the middle of the night when he was frightened. He called for John when he was losing it. Jennifer was right there behind the camera and it wasn't enough for Rodney. He wanted JOHN. :-P

Their scene on the pier by night was great.

Ronon's protectiveness of Rodney was sweet to see. It would be easy to believe that Ronon views Rodney as a stuck-up nuissance but he truly respects him as a person. Enough to argue that Rodney be allowed to die in dignity.

A couple funny bits as well. Loved Rodney asking for the ham and his crestfallen look when he realized his possibly lethal surgery forbade him from even that. Awww.

All in all, a pretty good ep. Of course now I watch every new episode with a sense of nostalgia already because it will be the last Season we're gonna have.
