IC:

Character name: Tricia Marie McMillan/Trillian Astra
Fandom: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (film)
Timeline: On Magrathea, just as she gets the point of view gun and fires it at Zaphod
Age: 20's
~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths:
She's just an ordinary human girl with a curious streak and an impulsive nature. Nothing really magical. However, I'm taking her from when she has the Point of View gun which, when used to shoot someone, forces them to see things from your point of view. Women are immune to it though. In the film, when Zaphod shoots it at her, she says "it won't affect me, I'm already a woman." The short scene explaining the POV gun says it was designed to help housewives make their husbands understand them better so Trillian's hypothesis is likely correct.

How would they use their abilities?
Probably just go around the Thor satisfying her curiosity and infodumping about the other ship with an infinite improbability drive which she came from. As for the Point of View gun, she's frustrated in the canon point I'm taking her from. I expect her to shoot Vogons with it at the waiting area first. After that, maybe she'll put it away and only use it when needed.
Appearance:
Long wavy black hair and a fair complexion with blue eyes. Petite. Just an ordinary human woman. Here have a picture.

Background/Personality:

Welcome to Earth. You came at a very bad time. You don't speak dolphin? Oh, so that's why you didn't know about the impending apocalypse. See, that's why humans are only the third most intelligent species on this doomed planet. Enter one Tricia McMillan. She's living it up dressed as Charles Darwin at this "fancy dress" party. Girl's got a smart sense of humor and bumps into one Arthur Dent dressed as Dr. Livingstone. He definitely makes an impression by recognizing that she's dressed as Darwin and even notes that the beagle toy she's carrying should have made that apparent. However, he makes a faux pas and inadvertently calls everyone at the party "idiots." Meh, it happens. Exit to the roof!

She and Arthur spend the rest of the night together at the party taking pictures with his phone, drinking and generally having a good time. He describes her as "beautiful, witty, mad as a balloon." Well, I guess the first two are compliments. She surprises him with a kiss on the cheek and an invitation: "let's go somewhere." When he asks her where, she comes up with "Madagascar" and is utterly serious about it despite the fact that they're in Islington and Arthur has just met her. He turns her down citing his job as an excuse and the fact that he doesn't even know her name. It's at this point where she introduces herself to him as Tricia McMillan. He suggests a compromise of going somewhere closer and invites her to Cornwall. She's definitely disappointed by this. However, the party don't start til Zaphod Beeblebrox walks in.

A bearded man with shades, long blonde hair and a red jacket interrupts the conversation between Tricia and Arthur. He claims to be from a different planet and asks Tricia to talk to him instead if Arthur is boring her. He invites her to come see his spaceship. That's the last we see of Tricia McMillan.

Anyway, sometime after that, Arthur's house gets destroyed. Also, the Earth goes boom due to some trouble with bureaucratic hideous aliens called Vogons who had it slated for demolition. See, this is why you should always check your paperwork.

Arthur and his friend Ford somehow manage to survive though because, surprise, Ford's an alien who can hitchhike for alien vessels. They end up on this Vogon ship and suffer a great deal of misadventure which leaves them afloat in space without any spacesuits or anything. They died, right? Uh...no. Narrator says you can survive in the vacuum of space for about 30 seconds if you hold in a lungful of air. Pfft...but what's the chance of being rescued in that amount of time? Welp, it's 22079460347: 1 against. That's also the telephone number of the Islington flat where Arthur blew it with Tricia at that party. Haha...universe. I see what you did there.

Anyway, Ford and Arthur were rescued by this round ship thing called the Heart of Gold. It loves beating the odds like that because it has an infinite improbability drive. You know, a drive that makes improbable things happen. It was stolen by Zaphod Beeblebrox who turns out to be Galactic President. Yep, that "do you wanna see my spaceship?" guy is president of the whole galaxy. Yay? Anyway, this is where we see Tricia again. She turns off the television just as Zaphod ogles himself on the news and tells him they have two hitchhikers aboard. The ship just decided to pick them up of its own volition. She checks where the hitchhikers came from and notices they came from Earth (Sector ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha) just like her. They decide to send Marvin the Paranoid Android to pick up the stowaways.

Tricia immediately recognizes Arthur. However, when Ford and Arthur make it to the bridge, the first thing Zaphod does is aim a gun thing at them though he stands down upon recognizing Ford. They actually go all bro on each other with hugging and skipping around and stuff. Arthur of course recognizes Zaphod as "would you like to see my spaceship?" guy and is still visibly irked by him. Tricia however breaks that awkwardness when she comes in to greet Arthur. Remember when I said "that's the last we see of Tricia McMillan?" Yeah, she goes by Trillian now according to Zaphod who's quick to take her attention away from Arthur. However, she's still eager to talk to Arthur and flounces away from Zaphod to talk to him.

She apologizes for what happened at the party and says that she would have called him back but when Arthur is about to bring up Earth's destruction, Zaphod interrupts. This is when we see Zaphod's alien nature. Under his head, he actually hides another face. Literally. Like he has two faces, dude. Zaphod fights Arthur and kicks him giving him a bloody nose.

At this point, they run into some cube-like ships, Vogon battle destroyers. Overly cheerful AI for the ship named Eddie declares this with glee. Heck yeah, it's chaotic. Zaphod and Trillian go at the controls at this point trying to get out of this mess somehow. The Vice President Questular Rontok sends a transmission asking Zaphod, who had kidnapped himself (yeahh...), to return the ship. They leap into the hyperspace at this point and away from the fleet.

After that chase, Trillian goes to show Arthur the wonders of the Heart of Gold's kitchen while Zaphod makes Ford some gargleblasters. 8) However, Arthur appears disdained since the ship can't seem to make a proper cup of tea. Arthur also shows Trillian his jealous streak pertaining to Zaphod but she tries to take his mind off it by showing him various curious kitchen appliances like a lightsaber knife and a device that detects what you're craving and makes it for you. She gets him aspirin and two mice crawl out of her bag. Oh mice... Anyway, Arthur wants to tell her something, likely about Earth going boom, but she stops him to go attend to Zaphod and Ford.

Zaphod has the ship read a cube of data. It's a short film pertaining to DeepThought, a computer built by an advanced race to find the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything is 42. The advanced race was, of course, very disappointed. DeepThought only offered the excuse that they didn't ask the right question. It said the question couldn't be formulated by itself but by a computer that would be far greater than it. The species would become more primitive to navigate that ten million year program. Spoiler: Hi mice! The video cuts before DeepThink can elaborate on the computer's design. Zaphod seeks the computer because the ultimate question will give him ultimate fame and money.

Trillian prepares the ship for launch to Magrathea, the planet where the data cube originated and where DeepThink is. The infinite improbability drive is activated by Zaphod and...

Oh right, that drive thing. It helps you drive through hyperspace by taking your ship through "every conceivable point in every conceivable universe almost simultaneously." However, this means you never know where you'll end up or even if you'll be the same species when you get there. Handy, right? This is exemplified in the film where we see the whole ship, including those inside it, turned into yarn at one point. They return to their former state when normality is restored though.

Anyway, they don't end up at Magrathea. Yeah, the drive's trial and error like that. Instead they end up on Viltvoodle VI where Humma Kavula, the politician Zaphod defeated to gain the presidency, lives. They go down to see Humma so Zaphod can settle a score. However, when Humma's goons rough Zaphod up in the receiving room, Trillian spills that she and Arthur don't know why they're on the planet. They're only trying to get to Magrathea. Ford's not there. He's settling his own score with an old hooker friend outside. Humma then reveals that he has his own data cube with coordinates to Magrathea. He's willing to trade it for a very special gun designed by DeepThought. Zaphod points out that he'll need the coordinates to Magrathea to get the gun for Humma. Humma wants to make sure Zaphod will keep his end of the bargain upon receiving the coordinates so he takes one of Zaphod's heads hostage.

Zaphod find himself even more stupid lacking the brains from his other head. Trillian, Arthur, Ford and him regroup just as the Vogons sent by VP Rontok attack. They've been sent to attack the president's kidnapper. The problem? Zaphod kidnapped himself. 8| Back together, Trillian takes a huge risk. With an aerosol can she picks up, she faces the Vogon troops saying she'll kill Zaphod with it if they get any closer. Because of this, they let Zaphod, Arthur and Ford pass but the Vogons take Trillian into custody. The Heart of Gold flies off leaving Trillian behind and she's taken to Vogsphere for processing.

Zaphod has coordinates set for Magrathea despite Arthur's insistence that they go back for Trillian. Because of this, Arthur, Zaphod, Marvin and Ford are forced to take an escape pod to follow the Vogon ship that has Trillian. They make it to Vogsphere, the Vogon planet. We see that Trillian is in a prison on this planet being led around in chains.

After going through an obstacle course of sorts, our three would-be rescuers (sans Marvin since they took his arm and sent him back to the escape pod) make it into the prison to save Trillian. Meanwhile, Trillian learns from her Vogon interrogator that Earth has been destroyed to make way for a hyperspace expressway. She also finds out that Zaphod gave the order thinking he was signing an autograph. Just as she's sentenced to death by being fed to an alien beast, Arthur, Ford and Zaphod come through with the proper release form thus sparing her.

When Trillian meets the three of them again, the first thing she does is slap Zaphod and tell him that he was the one who signed the order to destroy Earth. She also expresses anger at Arthur because he knew Earth was gone but didn't tell her. Needless to say, it's a very awkward ride back on the escape pod to the Heart of Gold.

Upon arrival, Trillian gets herself cleaned up. Arthur walks in on her showering and he hands her a towel along with telling her that if he'd gone with her to Madagascar, they wouldn't be alive here right now. She doesn't say anything and he leaves. On the bridge, the mice engage the improbability drive and they end up in orbit around Magrathea. However, a recorded message tells them that the planet is closed. They descend into the atmosphere anyway and nuclear missiles are sent at them. The ship tries to evade but the missiles stay in hot pursuit until Arthur activates the drive and the missiles turn into a bowl of petunias and a whale. Everyone is pretty jaded at this point despite this good fortune though.

On the surface of the planet, they find portals to other dimensions frozen over. However, they inadvertently turn them on. Arthur and Zaphod argue about whether or not to use the portals. While they argue, Trillian just jumps headfirst into one. Arthur panics. Meanwhile, Ford and Zaphod follow. This leaves Arthur and Marvin with Arthur expressing utmost fear and hesitation at the prospect of jumping in. When he goes through, it's too late and the portal has closed so he's still stuck on the cold Magrathean planet surface.

While Zaphod, Ford and Trillian make it to Deep Thought, a strange man approaches Arthur and Marvin telling them they'll die if they don't follow. The strange man hesitantly introduces himself as Slartibartfast. Arthur follows him into a different portal leaving Marvin alone. This is where Arthur learns that Magrathea used to build planets but the galactic economy collapsed so Magrathea closed. However, there was apparently a mix-up with Earth and it wasn't meant to be destroyed. Really awesome scene of the planet factory. Slabartifast shows Arthur the back-up Earth Mark II. Slabartifast apparently helped create Earth and when they go down, Arthur sees it under construction.

But back to Trillian! So they make it to Deep Thought and it's boredly watching cartoons. Zaphod asks if it knows the ultimate question and Deep Thought reveals that another computer had it. A computer that was a world. A world that was destroyed by Vogons for a hyperspace expressway. Oops? Zaphod motions to leave but Ford remembers that they have a gun to retrieve. Deep Thought opens a passage and they manage to retrieve it. However, Zaphod, still lacking brains shoots Ford with it and he expresses all the thoughts of frustration in Zaphod's head. Turns out it's a Point of View gun. If you're shot with it, you see things from the shooter's POV. Ford shoots Zaphod to make him see things from his POV. Finally, Trillian takes it and is asked "Why so edgy?" by Zaphod since she's obviously angry. She shoots him and...

Yeah, she's not gonna see Zaphod express her POV. I'm taking her from there!

Personality-wise, we can see that Trillian is definitely impulsive. She goes where the flow takes her. Just look at how she marvels at all the kitchen appliances without a thought for anyone she left behind. Also, watch how she just jumps headfirst into the portal. She lives like she ahs nothing left to lose and, yeah, in this case, she does sorta have nothing left to lose. This also exhibits curiosity and a willingness to try new things. She knows how to stand up for herself if her attitude toward Zaphod thus far has been any indication. He's president of the galaxy but she goes ahead and talks back to him whenever it suits her. There's also a certain fearlessness there. Upon finding herself in outer space, there's no breakdown, just wide-eyed idealism at all the wonders around her. This is probably because she didn't know Earth has gone boom yet. 8( She mellowed considerably and got miserable after finding that out. Still, she adapts to this chain of events of being on a "holy shit real spaceship!" better than most people would. I'm taking her from a canon point where she's seriously pissed off though so that impulsiveness may show itself as anger and lashing out at first.

Have you read up on how the game works?

The plug-in is called Flaming Ferret. You can earn money via missions, freelance work and stealing.

1st person sample:

[have a confused young woman tapping her right forefinger on the Guide screen; looks like she's been through heck, her wavy black hair is sticking up in some places and she has quite the weapon in her other hand]

Hey, hey, is this thing on? Zaphod? Arthur? Ford?

I thought we were dodging the Vogons. How'd we end up on a ship full of them?

[Vogon moving into the frame and she raises her right palm up, motioning for him (her? it?) to stop in a "talk to the hand" sort of way]

[turning her head to address him it for a sec]

I'll get to the forms in a minute. And no thanks on the fish. Already got one.

[eyes back on the screen]

Where am I? Where the hell is Zaphod? I want to give him the answer to "why so edgy?" Is that an ultimate enough question?

[a Vogon hand taps her on the shoulder and, frustrated, she turns and fires the gun; the Vogon draws back upon getting hit by a flash of light]

Yes, I can definitely see why paperwork shouldn't be a concern right now. You think you're the last of your species. Your planet's gone. Some jerk ordered it to be destroyed thinking he was signing an autograph. Yes, you don't need to fill out any of this at all.

[and with that, the feed abruptly cuts]

3rd person sample:

Trillian wanted a doughnut. She wanted to crawl under the covers with a doughnut and some hot chocolate, fall into a sugar coma and wake up drooling at a local bar in Islington or something. Getting hit with spittle from an irate English bartender yelling last call would be a godsend right now. So would a hangover. At least she could blame all of this on the alcohol in that case. She wouldn't have to accept that it was all really gone.

Whoever said hell was other people never had to be alone with themselves for an extended period. Hell wasn't other people. Hell was yourself. Hell was knowing you had no one but yourself.

Tucking the point of view gun under one arm, she walked the deck aimlessly. Yes, there were people here but no one she knew. No family. No friends. Heck, she'd even appreciate seeing an ex or two right now.

Arthur...

Yeah, she blew it with him. And she'd likely throttle Zaphod if she ever saw him again.

"Wanna see my spaceship?" she muttered under her breath.

What kind of girl went along with something like that?

She shook her head, a sardonic laugh escaping her: "The kind of girl who's bound to end up on a spaceship eventually, you idiot."

Questions?

Love me. 8( Oh wait, that's not a question. Love me?

And yeah, bringing that POV gun if it's ok...

Did you put your characters name and fandom in the subject? I hope so <3
