Thinking about the fic I want

I want to read it, but I guess I'll settle for writing it.

Going completely off of the gif set I posted previously, I've been musing on the whos and whats, and trying to think of an AU plot that would fall in line with actual events.

This is where I'm starting to settle:

• Dean Winchester is an archaeology professor who is respected, admired, beloved, but also chastised by his peers for his somewhat alternative (borderline antiquarian) methods (AKA he's a regular Indiana Jones on the weekends) 
• At some point, Castiel (last name's always vex me, I prefer Angelofthelord...meh) Milton rescues him from certain death, perhaps on an adventure in a hellish place? Cas is either some government agent or some executive/high ranking guy at a private firm that might be looking for technology for military or international power purposes

I want the story of how they met and fell in love to be told as the present story unfolds: 

• Cas is gone a lot, Dean grows suspicious as red flags pop up all over the place telling him something is amiss. (basically season 6 put in this AU). 
• That's all I've got...thinking about some kind of artifact or legend that might be a good connection, but I'm clueless

I need to figure out some other connections, characters and story lines 

• Crowley
• Balthazar
• SAM. 
• Bobby
• Ellen & Jo
• John & Mary
• Gabriel
