One small and unannounced benefit of switching from DeadAIM to gaim has been the info screen, which shows me this nugget whenever I look at my profile:
Member Since: Mon Apr 19 23:31:21 1999
That was when I registered my AIM name. My AIM name is older than millions of people on this planet. It's older than some nations. And it's been my avatar through some of the most difficult and some of the most rewarding years of my life. At the very least, I've certainly been provided an education in how not to conduct oneself these past years. An education that will hopefully not go unheeded.
Don't worry, I won't get that nostalgic on you. I'm far removed from the excesses of emotion that plague those who post in their livejournals, as well as the trumpeting of one's deeds(or misdeeds, as the case may be). I've simply grown beyond that, into a more mature, compassionate person.
I shudder to think how much booty I've had since April 19, 1999, though.
Shudder with pleasure, maybe. Aww, yeah. Hail to the King, baby.
