Food! Yummy, cheap food!
Two days ago I ate at a mall near my house.
I ate KFC (1 chicken, rice, regular french fries, and pepsi) + D'crepes + A&W Monas ice cream = Rp 50.000,00
HOLY-! Now this is why I love my country! ^^
Of course here 50 thousand is already considered quite expensive for one person's meal, but still if you convert that to Australian dollar it's only around AUS$5.5! 5.5 and I can already eat from 3 different food outlet!!!
Also about a week ago my cousin bought for dinner the satay from a street peddler that my family loves so much. He paid 52 thousand rupiah and he got 40 sticks of satay + 4 lontong (rice cake). And that was enough to feed at least 3 people!!!
And today for lunch I had 4 different kinds of meat, all of which my maid cooked for me.
Beef (beef abon & teriyaki beef), fish, chicken (from last night's leftover), and PRAWN crackers! Ok, so the last one doesn't count...But still my maid is amazing!
Oh, and I also found out that there are still place which sells drinks under Rp1000,00! o_O
I didn't think that I would ever see something like this again, but it's true! They sold their tea for Rp100, ice tea for Rp250, and sweet ice tea for Rp750. And their food is very delicious, too! It's a place called 'Dapur Umum' but it's so far away from my home. I'd eat there often if it was nearer.
Oh, all of the above is why I love my country, Indonesia! Now one of my dreams is to go to Manado and try their bizarre specialty. I'm surprised that all those bizarre food programmes never went there. They have a meat market which sells unusual kinds of meat and the ones that I want to try are their dog dish called RW and bat dish called Paniki. People said that they are delicious. It might be along time until I get to eat them though.
Well, my holiday here is coming to an end. So sad. T_T
But oh well, I'll be back in December! Yuumm, I can't wait!
