*facepalm*

So, I'm, like, insanely busy, 'cause instead of working yesterday I was stalking Leon Wieseltier, the vacuous author of sentences such as this:

"(...) a derangingly materialistic co-religionist who dreams frantically of 'Wedding of the Week' and waits a whole year for some stupid car in which he can idle for endless hours in traffic east of Quogue every weekend of every summer, the vulgar Zegna-swaddled brother of a Goldman Sachs mandarin whose son's siman tov u'mazel tov is provided by a pulchritudinous and racially diverse bunch of shellfish-eating chicks in tight off-the-shoulder gowns."

So. much. hate.
(Why does he have to write so many stupid things whyyyy D:)

(Also, instead of doing what I'm supposed to do, I'm reading Stefan Zweig's Die Welt von Gestern, finishing the last pages of Kaiserhof Str 12, and considering reading maybe Arthur Schnitzler, and maybe someone else, too. To read them together was actually a brilliant idea, because they offer very different perspectives on the German anti-Semitism that culminated in the Holocaust. Zweig comes from a very wealthy background, he was well-educated and his description of pre-WWI Vienna is, um, strongly idealized, he denies the existence of anti-Semitism and xenophobia before the postwar nationalism, which is not entirely true. On the other hand, Schnitzler's short story that also mentions the Vienna antisemitic atmosphere was published already in 1908. It's really fascinating ^.^ <--- maybe not the best word, considering the subject matter *facepalm*)

ETA I also  accidentally deleted all the stuff from my inbox, so I don't remember where I had the comments I wanted to answer to. So. much. fail ;__;

stefan zweig, kaiserhof str 12, my weird idiosyncrasies let me show you, wieseltier, books, arthur schnitzler
