Basically, why is everybody reading it? I mean, because I have absolutely no idea about it, apart from what I got from the Wiki, which is not much, but I have to admit that The Conference of Birds seems totally awesome.
So, where's the charm? The rampant use of allegory seemed rather evocative of Roman de la Rose, but, of course, it would be a bit different? Or not? Halp?
(Basically, is it worth reading, or is it just a reading fad -- one that's admittedly been around for IDEK, two centuries?)
