My folks are arriving tonight to visit for a week or so. Sarah is so excited she can't stand it, and we'd planned to meet them at the airport at 7 pm when their flight got in, get some dinner and then head home. Now, because of thunderstorms in ATL, they won't be in until 10:00. Sarah still desperately wants to go meet them at the airport.

So we made a deal--she will take a second nap today and then get up, have her supper, take her bath and put on her jammies and we'll head to the airport and when we get home she'll go straight to bed with no fussing. She went upstairs just now for her second nap and climbed in bed and curled up without a fuss at all, so she's keeping up her end of the deal.

So while my folks were waiting to board, my mom called and I told her about our deal. My mom is horrified and how could I even think about letting her be out so late and she should be in bed at 8:15 like normal and I'll ruin her routine and children need their sleep and the predictability of a routine and and and.

But Sarah's been crossing the days off on the calendar for two weeks now and she bounces into our bedroom every morning and says "Two days until Nana and Morley* are here!" or whatever. She woke up this morning wanting to call them to make sure we hadn't missed them. She made a picture for them and we wrote "Welcome Nana and Morley! We love you!" at the top and she drew happy faces all over it. I just don't have the heart to say she has to wait to see them until tomorrow.

I am a bad mama, y/n?

*My dad's name is Maury. Spencer, my nephew, altered this to "Mowee" when he was small. Sarah has further altered it to "Morley."
