I haunt Ebay and google up for kurti that are in some work-friendly prints/decoration - nothing too blingy.
I also scored some Sweet Pea by Stacy Frati tops on Ebay. Mesh tops, suitable for warm-weather wear. Lots of empire styles. Necklines are low enough on most that a cami is appropriate for professional ladies of any age but SF rarely gets that hot, nu?
Google for Stacy Frati Sweet Pea. Anthropologie and Nordstrom sell new, you might get lucky on ebay (sweet pea anthropologie is another good search term) for less $. I had a couple of links in my other email, will update post again when I found it. A lot of it is too foofy/floral for office work but I have a couple geometric ones in suitable colors.
If you sew at all, Jalie has stylish empire tops in its line. All-size patterns.
And Dharma Trading has great clothing blanks - intended to be dyed and/or decorated. I currently really love their "Berkeley shirt" - very loose and comfy woven cotton, no-button placket. I'm going to try to dye it periwinkle, but the plain white shirt is nice enough for an office.
