"Doesn't it seem funny to you," I say, "that two of the most important people in your life have suddenly gone 'round the bend of weirdness? Because it does to me." Why would both of them seem to be suffering from an identical delusion that they didn't know her?
Oh, my goddess. I know my face has to have turned white when she says that name. "Can I take that to mean that Heather has it in for you somehow?" I ask. "She was at the bar last night with Stef." I opt not to mention Jordan; she so doesn't need to know that.
"That's what we'll do," I tell her. I put one arm around her in a brief hug. "So why don't you rinse your face in some cool water and we'll see what we can do about this. We'll get it fixed," I promise her.
We will. And if this Heather girl is responsible for this? She'd better stay well away from me, is all I have to say. Or she may get to see my more unpleasant side.
