i'll spread my wings and i'll learn how to fly

Willy and I have spent the entire day replenishing the stockroom with supplies. The restaurant supply company loves us. We've spent a ton of money with them lately trying to keep up with the extra customers we've had. Our blood supplier is quite happy, too. Most of the new demons in town seem to be vamps ( Read more... )

The shop being fairly quiet, I decide that I deserve a lunch hour off and had off to Willy and Astraeia to grab something to eat. And catch up on the latest gossip. At least, I hope there's some latest gossip - I've heard snatches off what's been going on recently, but what with Buffy breezing in and out at random times and launching most of her concentration directly into the long suffering punch bag in the back room, well, let's just say that she's not been big on conversation recently...

I take a seat at one of the tables and look around.

I'm deep into an article about feng shui and sexuality when I hear the door open. I glance up and see Anya seat herself at a table. Jennifer has gone to take her drink order, and as she bustles off to the kitchen, I walk over to her table and sit down.

"Hey, Anya! Long time no see." I smile at her.

I look up and see Astraeia smiling down at me. Good, she can talk to em and keep me entertained whilst I eat my lunch. I glance round and see that the place isn't busy - even better, she will have no distractions.

"Hiya. I was hoping that I could get some lunch and possibly gossip - maybe you could help me with that?"

"We aim to please here at Willy's Bar & Grill." I wink and tuck one foot underneath my leg. "Where have you been? I haven't seen you in ages. 'Course, I've been here dealing with the hordes of demons in town, all of whom want to visit the local demon bar."

I sigh. "Well, you know, the heady world of retail. I;ve just been really really busy, which is good, because it increases the profitablity of the store, but bad because I get no time to myself and never get to see my friends. By the end of the day all I want to do is go home to bed." I pause. "Anyway, tell me about these demons - anyone we know?"

I keep forgetting she's mortal now. Of course working retail would wear any non-demon out. "I don't believe so. They're mostly vampires from what I can tell, and they kind of have attitudes." I shrug. "You know me; I can get along with just about anyone, but there's no need to get all high and mighty about yourself."

"Hey! I *was* being sarcastic, you know," I frown a little bit, then decide to move on. "Vampires, eh? With attitudes? Well, there's been that type before and I seem to remember they rarely come to a good end. And as for you getting along with them - of course you do - you run a demon bar. You'd hardly still be around if you didn't."

"True." I smile at Jennifer as she brings Anya's order. "Although it can be difficult when they whine about their blood being the wrong temperature, or when they get all flirty. That drives Willy insane. I swear he's gonna get bitten one of these days, in a non-fun way."

I pause for a sip of Vanilla coke. "So, have you seen Spike lately?"

"As we were talking about vampires that have attitudes, right?" I laugh lightly and shrug. "No, I haven't. You know what he's like - he tends to come and go. Right now, I think he's on go, but who knows? He knows where I am and if he turns up then, great, but I'm not going running after him." I take a sip of my drink and watch the way the ice slowly melts against the side of the glass.
