Alex Suarez in Heart-Shaped Glasses, and why Mikey Serpico is lolarious
Last Friday I set off for Give It A Name 2008, at which Paramore and 30 Seconds to Mars were headlining. It was absolutely roasting in London, especially for us, as two of us are hormonally warm all the damn time. Also I ate Krispy Kreme doughnuts for the first time.
Truthfully, I have to give the fest a Good but could do better- the venue was great but the sound could have been better. Bands like The Audition, Cobra Starship and All Time Low really struggled with the sound- but they were great despite that. Paramore were AWESOME, but 30STM are just hilarious.
Hilariously, I saw Mikey Serpico AGAIN. I met him at the Kill Hannah/Aiden gig last month, then at Kill Hannah Newcastle (um, which reminds me I have pics and video from those. Next post I guess). Then I saw him at GIAN! For real, I was at the Merch stands (where I did not buy All Time Low and Cobra Merch) and there he was waving at us! We're being stalked! I am one day deliberately going to a Serpico gig and I will be HAI MIKEY WHAT. I also met Envy On The Coast- their lead singer shakes your hand and says 'What's your name? I'm Ryan' and shakes your hand really firmly, like staring at you. I was like HAI YOUR BAND.
ANYWAY, the experience was ace, and I would do it again in a second.
I didn't actually take any pics in GIAN, but I went to the British Museum and saw some of the fantastic things my colonial ancestors looted from far flung places such as this:

Then, on Monday, we flew back, dumped our gear, and went to see Paramore at the Carling Academy. I have no pics from that, but the entire Carling was SHAKING, and the band were genuinely happy at the reaction they got. I had an awesome time.

Gabe took the pic of us, but there were so many people around squishing me, which is why my arms are that way. personally tho I think the best ones are the ones that cut out half my face. i am also going to make an icon from the alex pic and I have to myspace it to him, apparently)
