There are three terrifying things about my current situation:
1) How much I FUCKING. LOVE. this video. I don't know whether my favourite part is the line "PCR, when you want to find out who the daddy is (who's your daddy?)", the guy around 1:40 cradling the PCR machine, or the fact it was made at all.

2. That viewing this on youtube opens an undreamed-of world of biotech videos including "Do the Double Helix", "DNA Replication Rap" and "Nanodrop it Like It's Hot".
NANODROP IT. LIKE IT'S HOT. *hands of joy* I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS.
3. That I am having serious deja vu, as if I might previously have been called upon to bring news of DNA video geekery to the good people of lj? If only my life were that awesome, deja vu. If only.
Edited to update: oh lord god, I just found out that the guy who sings second ("you had to grow tons and tons of tiny cells") is Dr Kary Mullis, Nobel prize winner and the inventor of PCR. I...I didn't think it could get any better, and then it did.
