I had to wait until I'd seen the film to read your review and now I've finally got to watch, I find I agree with a lot of what you say here - apart from I was left feeling 'I've seen this all before', rather than 'woo hoo! A lovely feast'.

I found the sameness of the story distracting, I actually made notes during the movie, wondering if they were going to manage a plot twist to surprise me - but all they did was kill of Han which was just rude. I did like Po and Fin (even though they sound like Telly Tubbies), I thought they were shaping up to be a good pairing, then they split them up which put the kybosh on that. I liked Rey and the round droid, they were fun. I did enjoy it while I was watching, but I'm left with not very many lasting impressions - it was pretty, the action was exciting but now I'm thinking about the story all those holes are really bugging me.

Initially I was thinking Rey was going to turn out to be twin sister to the mysterious child of Han and Leia, but they didn't (quite) go there, so now I'm assuming she's Luke's daughter instead - which *sigh* but at least it would go a small way towards explaining how she suddenly had the Force AND knew how to use it. Though the ease in which she slipped into it was very irritating, having spent the original 3 films explaining to us how hard it is to master.
