Thanks for the warning about them using "Hurt" in the opening. It's been overused and often in a way that indicates the person who selected it hasn't listened to the lyrics. Muted it during that section.
I've decided the writers are trying to convey The Machine using all of them team as meat puppets, for lack of a better term. Their actions, as directed by The Machine represent various aspects of its "humanity" that it's trying out, but I'm not sure it realizes the majority of the meat puppets are able to shut off their humanity when necessary.
Is it bad that I got distracted trying to figure out where I'd seen the lead US Marshall instead of being intrigued by the plot itself? Turned out it was Richard Brooks, aka Jubal Early from Firefly.
I also liked seeing Elias again. Love the actor and how he has such a range in the various roles I've seen him in.
The show will be back next month, and I'll probably watch to see where they go with it now, but I can't help thinking they've killed off the character who did her best to retain her humanity. All for the "anyone can die" cred, which as you say, is total bullshit.
