life with toddler, food, a couple more recs

I am wiped out, I can't think why, all I did today was go to brunch, noodles, doughnut shop, a monument, and two playgrounds. Oh, and dress, feed, bathe, get down for nap, and put to bed a two-year-old. (Not in that order.)  *falls over*

I am excited by how much more Hypatia is having and articulating desires -- well, rational desires; I am less excited by her flipping out and crying that we CANNOT MUST NOT get on the M2, because we were waiting for the M4, this is NOT OUR BUS NO NO NO. And before you ask, no, we did not tell her it was the M2, she read the number off the front of the bus all by herself. Fortunately she then accepted the M86 crosstown in trade instead because that's a fancy accordion bus.

But earlier this morning it was a spectacular day here and I was suggesting various things to do, and she suddenly said out of nowhere, "Let's walk across the park to Cafe Sabarsky!" Which is where we do brunch quite often because they open at 9am and have booths perfect for a toddler and serve soft-boiled eggs in a glass and awesome hot chocolate, but even so, it had not been on the list of things I suggested, she came up with it all on her own! So that is what we did. :D

And then in the afternoon we went down to Lam Zhou handmade noodles -- if you are ever in NYC go here if you have a chance, unless you mind eating in a hole in the wall where a man LOUDLY whacks noodle dough against a counter to hand-pull the noodles any time anyone orders a ($5!) bowl of noodles. Hypatia very much did NOT like the loud whacking noise and was heading for a meltdown until I managed to get her to taste one noodle, and after that she was sitting there with her mouth open like a baby bird making demanding noises that we feed her noodles nonstop and eventually grabbed the chopsticks and actually managed to get some noodles into her own mouth, which I think gives you a sense of how awesome these noodles are.

Anyway, so I am getting nowhere on writing anything even though I am staring at this amazing Reese/Finch fanart by kimilog@Tumblr -- they are fully clothed and yet I would still call it NSFW, whew. I am totally going to devote tomorrow naptime to this.

Also thanks to
pendrecarc's Shaw recs I have just seen
kiki_miserychic's Shaw vid to Après Moi for the first time, no idea how I missed it, and it is also fabulous.

I share in lieu of actual content! And so to bed. :)

ETA: To signal-boost
arduinna 's awesome multifandom Idyll Challenge which I am so in for and wish to sell to you all!  Please please write me endless stories of Finch and Reese on desert islands and in lavish hotel suites and on yachts etc :D
