calling the flist! geoblockers -- how to avoid?

Jan 15, 2009 15:26

Flist! Google has failed me! Do any of you know of a method or tutorial for how to fake an IP address to get around these horrible geoblocking things that for instance prevent you from watching Merlin clips on the BBC website if you are browsing from the US?

Help!

PS: by way of thank you, recs!

kaneko has posted Arthur's Sword to merlin_flashfic, and you should all read it because it is magic. ♥

(The transformation challenge ends today! there is still time to get in a quick drabble!)

and

greensilver is posting a truly fantastic girl!Merlin AU WIP in her lj, and I often don't go for girl AUs and yet somehow this one is totally rocking my everything. Note, it runs in parallel with the episodes and there are spoilers for each ep as you go along, so don't read past where you've seen if you don't want to be spoiled!

eta: to clarify, I am all set with Merlin episodes! I am just looking for a more general solution, not so much to see episodes but to see all the extra content they have on the websites, and also just various other bits of geoblocked video around in the UK and Australia.

It looks so far like using some combo of free public proxies (via something like FoxyProxy in firefox) will do it, am investigating!
