Hey, would you mind terribly if I friended you? I've been having a great time with your following_sea posts, but it looks like we have a lot of other fandoms in common, like DW, ASOIAF, and shirtless navyboys AoS/period pieces in general. Also, I just received the first Rivers of London book, and I would love to have more people to talk about it with as I go along, because I fully expect it to be excellent!

That is, if you don't mind that I basically stopped watching Game of Thrones and possibly will only fangirl about the books.

And I'm definitely interested in your thoughts on Rivers of London once you've read it! :)

JYSK, I'm totally with you on fangirling over the books andlargely ignoring the show - there are some parts of it I like okay, but they've mucked up all my favorite characters and scenes, so I kind of ragequit about halfway through the last season. XD

Ooh, just out of curiosity, what made you ragequit? For me, it was Renly and the Tyrells, who are my favorites in the book, and I think received the worst revisions (that's when they were'nt just deleted altogether :P).

For me it was an accumulation of small things.

Like, them cutting actually interesting plots for time constraints, but still squeezing in more sex scenes. Also, the show seemed to move at a snail's pace, and I didn't like the direction they were taking with a couple of characters in like Littlefinger or Loras.

Augh, the Loras thing. XP Like, I was only mildly bothered by his whole Lady Macbeth thing in s1, but then s2 rolled around, and Renly's death scene was awful (and I don't mean in an "oh no it made me cry" way, but in a "Loras you look ridiculous and mildly put-out, not insane with grief"), and I've heard dire rumors about how he was botched even worse in s3.

So, yeah, I feel ya on being completely willing to squee over the books and rant about the show in roughly equal measures.
