Raymond Boucher, 41
MEDFIELD -- Raymond Gerard Boucher, 41, of Pleasant Street, Medfield, an Attleboro native, died on Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at Sturdy Memorial Hospital after having been stricken ill the previous day. He was the devoted friend of Robert G. Godbout of Medfield.
Born in Attleboro, Mass., on Sept. 2, 1963, he was a son of Margaret Beatrice (Pimental) Boucher, a Sister of Mercy Associate, of Attleboro, and the late Raymond Boucher who died on May 25, 1992.
Raised and educated in Attleboro, Mr. Boucher attended St. John the Evangelist School in Attleboro, and Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro, graduating in 1981. He earned his bachelor of science degree in architectural design from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wis. in 1986.
While a student at Bishop Feehan, he served as a drum major and played the flute and the glockenspiel.
A longtime communicant of St. Mark's Roman Catholic Church in Attleboro Falls, Mr. Boucher served as a church organist for 13 years, having started while a teenager in high school.
Teachers and instructors early on described Raymond as a "fearless entertainer and performer."
He was the owner and operator of Raymond G. Boucher Interior Design in Medfield since 1989. From 1986--1989, he had been employed as an interior designer for Newman-Coor Interior Design in Boston.
For years he was affiliated with drum and bugle corps, and was a member of the "Boston Alliance" in early adulthood, and a member of the Madison Scouts in Madison, Wis., while attending college. He later was a member of the "Spirit of Atlanta" in Atlanta, Ga.
He was an allied member of the American Association of Interior Design, and the New England Scholastic School Band Association.
His most treasured times were those spent teaching and mentoring youth in his art.
Mr. Boucher served as an award-winning educator, coach, and visual designer for the color guard corps at Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro, King Phillip Regional High School in Wrentham, and was currently serving the Dartmouth High School in Dartmouth.
He was a marching member, coach, and designer for the Winter Guard International in Dayton, Ohio.
During the Christmas holiday season, Raymond would volunteer his time, energy, and talents by decorating holiday trees to be auctioned off at the Westin Hotel in Copley Place, Boston, to benefit the Children's Hospital of Boston.
Mr. Boucher resided in Medfield for the past three years, having previously resided in Norwood and the South End of Boston.
In addition to his dear friend and mother, he leaves a sister, Michele M. (Boucher) Brunelle and her husband, Armand J. Brunelle, III, of Attleboro; his nephew and godson, Marc A. Brunelle of Attleboro; a niece, Rachel M. Brunelle of Attleboro; his godfather and uncle, Alfred J. Pimental and his wife, Louise Pimental, of Taunton; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and cherished friends.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral service on Tuesday, May 31, 2005, at 8:45 a.m. from the Commonwealth Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mark's Roman Catholic Church, Stanley Street, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, with the Rev. Peter N. Graziano, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Attleboro.
Following cemetery services, an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of fellowship, remembrance and refreshment.
Visitation will be held on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30, 2005, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Commonwealth Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mr. Boucher's name may be made to the newly established Raymond G. Boucher Memorial Fund, c/o BankNorth, 2 North Washington Street, North Attleboro, MA 02760, to assist in the advancement and development of children's education and skill development.
