So I walk into the last class of my Philosophy seminar today, and my professor announces that the class was a failure. Heartening, really. When filling out the course evaluation, I realized how haphazard the class had been. When I was asked to evaluate whether the class had followed the course syllabus, my first response was "What syllabus?" Overall, the content of the lectures was roughly 75% Rorty, 15% Nietzsche and 10% Merchant and eco-feminism. For a third-year seminar that's supposed to deal exclusively with Nietzsche's Will To Power, that's pretty sad. But I also realized that it was still an extremely interesting course that I don't regret taking. I just wish I'd known what I was getting myself into.
As for Carnivale:
- I totally called everything with Sofie, including the bit with Jonesy (although when it happened I was stunned)
- Iris is probably one of my favourite characters
- I can't wait for Lodz to come back (he'd better come back, goddamnit)
- Most mind-blowing episode yet (not the best episode, but holy shit was I ever blown away)
- The scene with Libby, Stumpy and Rita Sue actually made me tear up. That was some damn fine acting on all their parts.
