Suth Moot

Ah Suth Moot. So much has been said about you, and I'm a bit late on the old bandwagon.

I can't say I have an extensive opinion on the event as I spent most of it sleeping or skulking around unwell and we ended up leaving early due to unwellness.

The event had a nice vibe. The site was easily accessed and had reasonable facilities. Minuses included the wasps (argggh!) and the mundane-inducing effect of the scouts also using the site, pluses included the beautiful secluded camping sites for the non-period tentage and the yummy yummy feast.

I have come to the conclusion that there are people who will always prefer to go to Suth Moot and people who prefer Festival. Neither is effecting the market of the other and that Suth Moot is a valuable asset to the SCA.

The hardwork and forethough that N and G have gone to to make the event successful is clear and they should be congratulated for running such a well-oiled event. I know their events are always well-run and we kind of expect it of them now, but it is still a great feat to run such an event and they deserve praise. So.. go them!

Thanks also to the folks of Abbotsford for their support and care. Love their work. Always.

While I came away from the event inspired to make stuff (always the sign of a positive SCA experience) I have come to the conclusion that I am a Festival person. And will endevour to work harder to make that possible next year. I missed my other peeps. :(

I am looking forward to hearing the Festy-vale stories over the next few months. And I'm sad I wasn't there for Sigurd's and Tig's Laurellings. Congrats Sigurd!* He's an awesome fellow, a person I find very inspiring. I'm so pleased! And Tig is just amazing in so many ways, artistically and as a person, I couldn't be more chuffed! Congrats Tig!

*Dunno if he's in LJ-land but I'm throwing the good vibes out the the universe to give to him.
