So I was surfing Ebay last week and came across a listing for Kefir Grains. Since it was inexpensive, I bought some. I knew it would arrive in a few days so I did a little research on what I would need and then set out to Trader Joes and Target. I got some organic coconut sugar, unsulfered apricots, unsulfered molasses, 100% juice, and some glass containers to ferment the grains in. (I already had organic evaporated cane juice, spring water, and baking soda at home)
The first batch's 2nd fermentation was in a large carafe with a lid but I guess the lid wasn't air-tight because there was almost no carbonation. =/
So for the 2nd batch I used some clean Snapple and Honest Tea glass bottles since I was hoping the caps were tighter and I'd get some carbonation this time. *-*
*cough* Ignore the jewelry cleaning kit in the background. I had just used it earlier in the day and hadn't put it away yet. Wasn't planning to post this pic (was for personal record so I'd have a reference for the colors of the liquids) at first so hadn't moved it out of the way.
Here's to hoping for some bubbly Kefir water tomorrow. <3
