A very short scene that hit me while listening to
I Found a Reason from the V for Vendetta OSTUnedited and full of randomness. And poor characterizations. And surprising lack of crack. Enjoy if you can.

She'd fought enraged youkai intent on her messy demise. She'd helped end a hanyou's reign of terror. She'd protected her family, both original and adopted, from the dangers present in both her lives.
But she couldn't deny the sluggish pounding of her own heart when faced with the truth she'd hidden so well from herself.
"I… Can't you see that I can't?"
His eyes hardened, and she silently pleaded for him to not look away. Losing his support would surely kill her now that she knew how much he meant to her.
"I'm sorry… I just can't… I'm not ready yet…"
So many times she'd felt buoyed by his attention, and it had never occurred to her before now that his attention was bought and paid for with a dear price.
"I just need time…"
Yet, despite how much her heart ached to leave all her obligations behind and be with him, she knew it would be fair to neither of them if she held onto that doubt the rest of her life. If she didn't finish now, would she ever be able to?
"I-- Please say something!"
"There is nothing to say, miko."
Her heart ached so terribly, the sluggish beat threatening to overtake her when he broke from her gaze.
"You will join this Sesshoumaru when your task is completed."
The sluggish beat jumped painfully and warmth suffused back into freezing limbs.
"You… You'll wait for me?"
He didn't answer but the delicate sniff of derision was enough.
She didn’t dare question him. She didn't dare question herself. The time for that would be later. For now, it was enough that they could be here now.
