I left a comment on the imeem page for the original when I first watched but I want to leave more detailed feedback because I don't think the one line I wrote then really sums up just how much I adore this video.

I know Jesus Christ is probably your most famous vid and rightly so, it's awesome. But Soldiering On has always been my favourite. The emotional punch when I first saw it was just intense and even now, when I watch it for like the fifty-hundreth time, it still makes my chest ache.

I love that first image of Dean's body arching out of the hospital bed. I love the transition at 0:35 from Dean watching John's corpse burn to him as a child smiling at his father. I love every single image in the clips around 0:38. I love we would walk until we could not crawl. I love how you show Dean's breaking down after John's death at 1:06ish. I love Dean's deep breath around the flames. I love Dean nodding. I love how you show what John left behind.

It’s hard to name favorites among my own vids, but given a choice between watching ‘Jesus Christ’ or ‘Soldiering’, I will pick the later eight times out of ten. So yeah, I agree that this vid for me too packs a harder emotional punch. ‘Jesus Christ’ is a very constructed vid with faith as theme. It exploits a theoretical question with Deans’ emotions as results.

‘Soldiering’ on the other hand drives on the emotional impact of John’s death. The vid comes together much more naturally, a bit similar to ‘My Girl’ in that it just goes with the lyrics. The grief Dean carries feels human and easy accessible. Thank you again for your awesome feedback and I am so thrilled that you loved this video so much, that was wonderful to hear.

This is just so, so gorgeous. I love how quiet it is, such a beautiful character note. *chinhands*

The song really nailed something about Deans loss of his father for me, while still sounding so resolved. I just loved it and hence the reason for the remaster.
