Sublime and Romantic Dinner for two.

This evening, sensaes and I had an absolutely exquisite meal at La Vallee Blanche here in Glasgow. For those of you in Scotland (or planning a trip), do NOT miss this place. They do an affordable pre-theatre menu, but as we were celebrating, we splurged on the full dinner. I hate making posts with no pictures, but the romantic lighting made any photos impossible. Trust me when I say their presentation was gorgeous! So here is what we had:

Before our starters arrived, we were brought hors d'oeuvres of crostini with some delightful and buttery shredded pork topping (it wasn't pate).

I began with the Tartine of Home-Smoked Wood Pigeon, wild mushrooms and juniper oil; while my sweetie had Braised Ramsay's Pigs Cheeks, carrot puree, fennel, radish & ancient carrot salad - because he wanted to know what an ancient carrot tasted like! ;-)

Then, we went for it and had the Cote de Boeuf with red wine reduction (massive rib steak served on a carving board for two), pomme puree with roasted garlic, and roasted autumn veg. It frickin melted in your mouth.

Then, we simply could resist dessert. I had the Vanilla Poached Pear, praline mouse, almond pannacotta & salt caramel sauce; while he indulged in the special of treacle tart with homemade rum raisin ice cream. Both were amazing.

We were stuffed, but then they brought us a small plate of homemade jellies and chocolates. All this was accompanied by a sparkling rose, and for dessert, a Sauterne that my sweetie eloquently said tasted "like French kissing the sun." A sublime meal, and tres romantique!! GO!
