Words dammit
When I was a kid my teacher said, it's oxymoron (okszimarun). Oxymoron (oxy morron) is a dumb football player.
And when did reconnoiter (ree con a tour) become ree ka noy ter? I still don't know which is right. Dictionaries are a big help. But I guess if we went with the original French it would be ray ka nwotra.
Gah, it was hard enough learning to say pharmacy as a kid and learning that the word chasm that I'd read a lot was pronounced kasm not chazm.
But these words, I was taught to say them one way and now they sound so wrong. Were my teachers wrong or have we slipped into happy slang? I is confused.
