It was mentioned that these protesters were arrested because they weren't in the specified protesting area (far away from the media? how sneaky...), not just for protesting. On one hand they're dumb for not complying, but on the other hand if you're protesting they shouldn't give you a place to do so, you should get in the way and make a scene. Peacefully. That's kind of the point. Why protest where The Man says you can? Seems silly to me.
My mom often remarks that no one protests on college campuses like they did in her school days. I think she's right. People (at least here in my middle class world) are apathetic and ignore that which doesn't directly involve them. I don't want to blame them, because big issues are hard to think about when you have to worry about your job or your family and the immediate concerns of living.
Gotta run, but I'll be thinking about this.
