A preview of my month's efforts.

The first track was written in summer of 2005. It was a guitar duet, and there are lyrics but I have no vocalist. Tabs are here. The second was rendered an hour ago, and is a 3:30 second version of a soon much longer piece. The third piece is a re-rendering of Benevolence. Then is a string version of Read more... )

i really REALLY dig variation in G#. i think the beginning can be strengthened by a more fluid bass clef melody.

who followed you in? is very emotional and i'm quite impressed.

did you do these on a computer program?

Hey Davey, thanks for listening!

I rendered these in a program called Reason.

Variation in G# needs to be re-examined... It was originally a snippet from a collection of pieces in G# minor for guitar, and I had grandiose plans to make an epic suite of connected pieces flowing into each other. But there was drama with the girl (whom I was dating) who did vocals on the first of at least three pieces for it, and so variation in G# never was finished, or even given a proper title.

there's an essence which i feel exuding from that piece which transcends all the other work i listened to. follow that up, dude-- i hear a lot of potential.

also i'm on such a music kick right now-- me and ken are nearing the finalization of the song we're writing! i'll post recordings on my respective journal

it's not symphonic to the extent of your piece; in fact, it's the first piece of music i've ever written period.

here's the chord progression from what i can recall:
C/e, Em, G/d, D, F/a, Am/c, G/b % Bb, F, Ab

the bass clef holds the bulk of melodic ornamentation, and i'm very proud of it. you'll hear the first draft as soon as it gets recorded and emailed to me

That's a neat little chord progression. I can't wait to hear the whole shebang. I love a bit of melodic bass, especially for keys.

I'm only recently on a stint of symphonic writing. In fact, the predecessor to variation in G# is a more typical example of what the bulk of my music is like. I write a lot of intimate guitar pieces that never really get off the ground fully or get recorded, and that only got recorded because the vocalist and I were doing a recording project in high school.

Yeah. I'm probably not gonna leave New England for Grad school either, but who knows?

My brother and his gf have wanted to move to Chicago for a while now, but they're still saving up. He plans to go to grad school there, and his gf wants to study dance at the University of Chicago.

I don't plan to permanently or semi-permanently reside anywhere. I've considered doing graduate or post-doctoral work in Europe, if at all possible.

As I might've suspected. Good call.

I'd love to visit India and study music and mysticism there. And there are some prolific Indian mathematicians as well. I just don't handle humidity or heat very well =/
