Had plenty of opportunity to be a geek this week, as I have started work on my blogging project. For all the geekage, a quick summary:
- WordPress is a breeze to install, but be careful with themes for it. I wish I knew how to edit the footers in themes. Theme authors squeezing gold selling ads into the footers suck.
- Plogger makes WordPress setup look complicated. It is -so- easy to install and has a very clean interface.
- The Wowhead plugin for WordPress messes with the sidebar widgets in WordPress, and you have to deactivate it to be able to change any items in the sidebars.
- Lightbox JS is fun to play around with!
- So far I enjoy FF3 very much, though I am still a bit unused to the AwesomeBar.
- LJFriendsChecker is dead, long live LiveJournal Addons. A bit heavy on functionality, but it does what I need it to do: check my friends page and alert me. Note: turn off alerts when running WoW instances, oy.
