Around less? Why, yes! Here's why.

As I've explained to a few people, I've had to undergo a huge self-imposed change to my personal schedule. I will be around less. Now, if there are events coming up (like Halloween!) you can be damned certain I'm going to make an effort to work RPing into my schedule. But other than that, barring Cast Related Stuffs, I'm going to be a weekend warrior for the most part.

HERE'S WHY:

I have one (1) husband and two (2) dogs. I actually enjoy their company, especially the husband. We do not get to see each other much during the week -- as such, I have started coming online after he turns in for the night. The dogs mean that I must -- must -- be up by seven AM. Because they are enthusiastic beasts and are not at all shy about waking me up forcibly. I have tried functioning on five hours of sleep, but my body rejects this notion whole heartedly. My days of 2 and 3 AM threadings are now limited to weekends, if that.

I am pretty much the glue that keeps the household (such as it is) together. Things get done around here because I do them. It is oftentimes frustrating and time-consuming. I r domestic goddess who does not like to live in a pigsty, and who frequently prefers to bake her own bread. (See: time consuming.)

In an effort to get back into academia and basically save my brain, I've decided to start submitting papers to and attending literary conferences. The International Gothic Association is holding their biennial conference in July '09 in Lancaster, England. This is a Big Deal, and I'm planning on submitting a paper to present. This is... kind of intimidating and time-consuming as well. I'm doing a LOT of lit-crit reading these days (it's kind of awesome and I really love it, which just seems like craziness to me because I WANT TO).

Because being a stay-at-home whateveriam gets ridiculously BLAH, I'm now taking an accelerated grad-level HR management course at the uni. I'm also going to be going back to agility class once a week (now that the weather isn't so oppressively hot), and potentially taking the other dog to herding lessons once a week (where I will get to run around with SHEEP and hopefully my dog will herd them -- this scares the bejeezus out of me, you have no idea).

I'm also working diligently on an original novel, and my self-imposed goal is to have it finished by August '09, at which point I will start shopping it around to various literary agencies.

Then add to this two enormous works of fanfiction that I am determined to finish sometime before the next Ice Age.

My life is very... full right now, and RP is still a part of it. It's just not AS LARGE a part. I have no intention of leaving the game, but I am seriously restructuring my schedule, because while staying busy is all well and good, I need to not go crazy either. RP is something I'm going to be doing in my free time. I just don't have quite as much free time as I used to. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT IT'S NOT YOU, IT'S ME.
