I'm going shopping tomorrow, apparently. Planning to get Havemercy by Jaida Jones and Danielle Bennet (yes, Jaida being
ladyjaida of
shoebox_project fame) at Barnes and Noble. I've heard wonderful review of it, so I'm quite looking forward to reading it. I'm also apparently taking advantage of Old Navy's $1 flip-flop sale, which is (I suppose) exciting. Oh, and then we're going to the paint shop and getting paint chips! I might even swing by the dump to donate a bagful of old socks. My tomorrow promises to be super fun, especially because I'm pretty sure it's going to start at 5:30 A-fucking-M. It's like school all over again! Yay! [/super-duper sarcasm]
So, anyway, on that note: I need suggestions for books to buy on my splurge (I'm pretty sure I have exactly $102.50 to spend on books, so hit me!). Help is loved and adored. Please and thanks. So far, here's my list: Atonement (Ian McEwan) (maybe), Havemercy (Jaida Jones and Danielle Bennet), something else by Philippa Gregory (because The Other Boleyn Girl was actually pretty good), maybe something by Jodi Picoult, definitely stuffy by Terry Pratchett (probably lots, to be totally honest), Les Miserables (Victor Hugo) (probably the Lee Fahnestock/Norman MacAfee translation as I've been told it's the best), and The Handmaid's Tale (Margaret Atwood). I was thinking of getting some Vonnegut too, but I'm not sure which books to get; any Vonnegut specific suggestions would rock too.
If you've seen any books on the list that you love/hate, tell me. If you've seen any glaring errors (aka. things I've forgotten), tell me. If you feel like slapping me for making you have an opinion (and yes, I will make you because I don't think I've ever had over $100 to spend on books before, and it's kind of intimidating.).
