give me a humble heart.

Each time I watch this movie it does me in. It's the first time I was hit by the genius that is Terrence Malick, mostly because I never paid attention to old movies before (what a shame to have missed out on Badlands for as long as this, watched Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid for the first time this week as well, and was most impressed (though that's not by Malick)).

I love the music. And the sensuality. And the intensity of Smith and then how easily I fall in love with Rolfe. And the actual pictures. And the grass. And the rivers. And the colors. And the lightning. And the nature.  And the prose. And the music. Everything about this movie is evocative. And the end, the end just does me in. When she chooses him. When she finally really in her heart chooses him and takes his hand. This movie is what every great love story is.
