How did you find us?: World showed me~ xD

IC:

Character name: Yuri George
Fandom: Black Jack
Timeline: After volume 5 of the manga when her father died and Kiriko caught Gumma. I’m going by both the manga and 2003 anime because she only appears briefly in either, and for the most part there is little difference between events concerning her.
Age: 25, headcannon assuming through the aprox ages of Black Jack and Kiriko

~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths: Limited medical knowledge (possibly a passable nurse), advanced wildness survival skills and enforcing local environmental laws, musically talented, good at tracking down her brother.

How would they use their abilities?: Yuri would probably ending up helping people, as most of her family are in the medical field and she has enough training to be a decent nurse. (Or at least first aid) She also was a member of KERNS, a group that focused on actively protecting the environment and enforcing things like local hunting laws, so Yuri could very likely be a part of some sort of law enforcement.

Appearance: Yuri is tall-ish, skinny, and looks a lot like her older brother Kiriko. She has blue eyes and long pale hair, although the exact color has been debated. It’s never revealed in the original manga, presented as yellow blonde in the Black Jack 21 series, but much of the fandom has her matching her brother with a more silver/platinum blonde look. (Which I’m continuing with) She’s usually shown wearing dresses or skirts. Other than her uncanny resemblance to her brother, Yuri has nothing else that makes her stand out physically.

Background/Personality:
Yuri is Dr. Kiriko’s younger sibling. Their father is Dr. Edward George, a world renowned doctor who worked in NYC, where the two of them grew up. Because in the 21 series Yuri and her father where living in Canada, I am assuming that is where they both where originally born/lived for a while before moving to NYC, and therefore have dual citizenship.

Kiriko is significantly older than Yuri, but they are close, which is why she is so attached to him. (Another reason could be that their mother died when they where young.) The two of them do fight over his practice of euthanasia, and Yuri is constantly getting walked out on by him. As shown in the two manga chapters she appears in and the episode of the 21 series, she still deeply cares about Kiriko and would do almost anything for him. Yuri also is a member of the environmental group KERNS that strives to protect wildlife and natural areas and enforce local laws on hunting, deforestation, and the like. This shows she has a very kind and loving personality, and a strong sense of justice to go with it. She’s also shown to be very forgiving, when Kiriko still vows to kill upon request yet she says afterwards to Black Jack that he has a kind heart and was only doing what he thought was best.

Yuri tends to panic at first when faced with a desperate situation and she’s very emotional. In the manga chapters involving her, she always freaked out in the beginning before finally calming down and dealing with the situation, but then usually ended up becoming emotional and crying in the end (no matter the outcome, be it good or bad.)

In the episode ‘The Destiny of the Black Doctor’ Yuri is first introduced shotgun in hand, firing mistakenly at Black Jack whom she thought was Kiriko. She later explains that Kiriko has been trying to kill their father, who is slowly dying from an incurable disease. Yuri quickly goes from the seemingly confident woman brandishing a firearm to dissolving in tears by her father’s bedside. (Note that she never intended to cause mortal harm when she shot at Black Jack thinking it was her brother, she only wanted to stop him/scare him off.) Later while Yuri is talking with Pinoko, she shows that she still thinks Kiriko is a good person at heart, because he did try to save their father several times before he finally gave up. Again further in to the episode she demonstrates a capacity for bravery when she confronts two poachers by herself. Somehow she was intimidating enough to scare off two brawny men, both of whom were armed as well. (And in my option they probably could have easily overpowered Yuri if they had the will too.) The 21 series of the anime portrays her brave streak more predominantly than the manga.

‘There Was A Valve!’ is the manga chapter that the aforementioned anime episode was based upon. The details of events are slightly different, as are Yuri’s reactions. Their father is suffering from the disease, and a desperate and fearful Yuri brings goes to Black Jack for help. She is visibly upset and is barely in control of her emotions as she recounts her sad story and when Kiriko bursts on to the scene she breaks down bawling. She also starts crying after she learns her father can be cured, and goes completely hysterical when Kiriko ends up killing him anyway.

Even after all of this, ‘99% Water’ shows that Yuri still would do anything for her mass murder brother. She goes back to Black Jack in tears yet again, this time for Kiriko’s sake, as he’s trying to commit suicide. (He contracted Gumma, a nasty liver dwelling parasite, while in practicing in Brazil.) Black Jack manages to save him against his wishes. Yuri is overjoyed; She’s so happy she’s crying again. The siblings argue briefly over Kiriko’s commitment to practicing euthanasia, but Yuri is honestly just glad he’s still alive. (Even if he doesn’t think so.)

Thor Background:
In the past, Yuri had spent a few months on Thor as a refugee. While there she had numerous clashes with Kiriko, who had also made it aboard, over his behaviors on the ship and her development of a relationship with fellow refugee CR-S01. The two of them managed to reconcile somewhat before she was abruptly wormholed. While her relationship with CR-S01 didn’t get very far, it was obvious the two of them where becoming very close. Also, said wormhole never brought Yuri back home, and instead acted like a delayed time loop to bring her right back to where she started on Thor.

Have you read up on how the game works?: Yup! FlamingFerret is the guide plugin, and money can be made through missions, commissions through other characters or by mooching off of others.

1st person sample:

[video feed clicks on and the camera shakes and moves before settling on a young woman. Her eyes are red like she’s been crying.]

Okay, is this thing working? I think I’ve got it right…

[she sniffles and pushes her long hair behind her ear]

To anyone that can see this, I need to know I’m not the only one who made it off earth.

[she pauses to glance around worriedly.]

A-and if anyone sees a tall man in black with long hair and an eyepatch, please please please tell him that his sister is looking for him… And not to… Oh, not like he’d listen anyway!

[video clicks off after the camera shakes some more.]

3rd person sample:

Gone. Everything. Just… Gone.

She had watched and her fear had mounted as the news reports on the uprising epidemic started to flood in. What had once been just a local disease in the jungle was now a worldwide apocalypse in the making. She also noted the irony of it- Yes, just six months earlier her brother had contracted Gumma and nearly died.

Or she should say he nearly killed himself in an effort to keep it from spreading. Sometimes Yuri would sit there and marvel at how dumb he was. Did he really expect her not to go for help and loose the last family member she had left? Black Jack had been willing to save him, even knowing Kiriko wasn’t going to change his views, and for that she would be eternally grateful.

But it felt almost like a wasted effort as the greatest scientists and doctors raced against the clock to find a cure, and ultimately failed. The sad part was that before Gumma had a chance to wipe out the human race the Earth was ‘quarantined’ and then ‘disinfected’ through the use of a large laser aimed at the core.

And now she was standing alone, on a spaceship for goodness sake, armed with nothing but a blue and green stripped towel and a strange book with the words “Don’t Panic” embossed on it.

Problem was, she started panicking.

Questions?: I hope it’s okay to bring her back in! ><

Did you put your characters name and fandom in the subject: No, seriously, do this. It makes it so much easier for everyone.
