MY RANDOM THOUGHTS LET ME SHOW YOU THEM.
Personally, while I believe Kate will be proud of this civil rights triumph, I feel she won't reconsider a military career. She's already chosen her path and has gone far down it to back out of it. The military was one aspect of her life, unfortunately short-lived but nothing she regrets. She's immersed herself into Gotham's underground and according to Williams III, we're going to see a lot of the supernatural in Batwoman's stories. More villains, more mysteries, building up to a Rogues gallery for her.
This is the life she's chosen for herself. I'm certain she's going to keep going strong, maybe with a little more hope with that ugly part of American history closing.
What does this mean for Batwoman's origins in a decade or two from now? Well, we'll see. I can only have faith that whoever joins writing her stories will keep in mind how much of a psychological impact DADT had on her and if a retcon happens, they will still give her a convincing origin that still deals with having to choose between a career or being honest about herself.
