In the interest of keeping things as short as I possibly can -I would like to call attention to the gross inequity of social stratification... nah, on second thought nuts to that. Poor is as poor does and whether you are 200 dollars overdrawn [that is 10 dollars in the checking and 190 in the savings] or nto, you are counted wealthy or impoverished mostly according to what you look/smell like -that is the truth. I recently read a few studies where psychological researchers [citation needed] studied peoples' reactions to strangers. Specifically, they wanted to know if subjects could accurately asses the strangers socioeconomic status [SES for the rest of us]. Turns out that a startlingly high but entirely believable percentage of folks nailed the strangers income within about 5,000 dukits [beans, clams, bread, l00tz]. This means something. A large part of behavior towards someone has to do with how well off you think they are -fact is, you will treat a pauper differently than someone dressed nice driving a late model luxury vehicle [who speaks with a french accent to boot]. When this inevitably happens it isn't because of superficial conscious bias but rather it is part of our breeding and genetically endowed prejudice. Perhaps I have taken it too far- BUT the fact that I can dress nice and fool your sensors and thereby gain favor is an important thing to pay attention to. I may encounter you sometime in the near future and demand you repay me for some insult, if I am dressed the part and remembered to bathe you will be compelled to give me even more then I request!!!
