Bali is a good break but I think the next time I go I won't stay in Kuta, Legian or Seminyak. These places, for all their hedonistic worth, are getting pretty jarring. Too many drunk OZs and touts trying to sell you magic mushrooms. I have good memories of my last trip in 2008 but I think I prefer some peace and quiet from now on. This time, I thoroughly enjoyed the day cycling trip from Kintamani to Ubud; exploring the traditional Balinese villages and gaining some insight into their lives and culture.
Tomorrow we fly to a more isolated place - Flores - and I hope our six day stay in Labuanbajo and on the seas between Flores, Komodo and Rinca (we're hiring a live-aboard for 2 nights) will be interesting.
