Yorkshire
Crappy Monday today with looming essay deadline. But last weekend was fantastic; I took the train up north to Leeds to meet up with my cousins [i.e. for Eid and whatnot]. Haven't seen them in a long time, since they migrated to Dubai ages ago. Now it seems they're staying put in good old Yorkshire [which makes it easier for me to visit, being in the same country]. My first impression of Yorkshire is that people seem to be much more friendly and that Leeds, although a city, has a nice small-town vibe.
We drove to our aunt's place in Accrington where we had sumptuous curry and hung around for a bit in what I must say is a fantastic place to live, if you like peace and quiet. I'll probably visit again near Christmas; I hope I plan my ski trip right so that I can visit my aunt and my cousins on Christmas Day itself.
This is the furthest up north I've been, and I must say, it's pretty nice. England is not 'London with a wee bit of countryside' as one of my friends once put it.
