Unlike most demons, Disgaea demons are a lot like humans: they have families, friends (whether they admit to it or not), and most of all, enemies (though they might also be friends), and though taboo they can even care for, appreciate, and love each other (ewwwww).
The biggest way they are different is that they give highest praise and respect to the demons that are bad rather than good. One of the most important things for a demon is appearing bad or having an ulterior motive. For example, a demon may want to save a frienemy from being kidnapped by a collaboratively despised third person, but rushing in and saving them would look bad. So, they will (sometimes… if they feel like it) come up with a reason for interfering: “they owe me money,” is a common one, or occasionally “the only person that can kill him/her is me!” If you tick off another demon and they hit you, then you shouldn’t have ticked off that demon! And when they beat up a group of people to steal money, it’s rarely ever personal… you just happened to be the first person they saw when they got the idea. And with death being only a minor inconvenience (just a trip to the nurses office and a fistful of change… with some exceptions), the only truly irreprehensible acts would be to lose control of one’s actions, psychotically twisted cruelty, and needless, irrational destruction.
As a demon, Aktuare glories in doing what is bad on live TV, but unlike most demons his pranks typically come off as extremely childish. For example, he holds the world record for “ding-dong ditches” and crank phone calls in 90 minutes.
