2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I did worry less, but it wasn't a result of my New Year's Resolution. This year my resolution is to put my own future first.

3. Did someone close to you give birth?
No.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.

5. What countries did you visit?
USA.

6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004?
A job that I want to go to every day.

7. What dates from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
February 14th - end of my relationship.
June 22nd - Flight to USA
June 23rd - met Vince
June 26th - Visited New Orleans
July 10th - Met a strange man on the dancefloor
November 7th - Post mortem

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Coming back from giving up my teacher training place and being accepted onto my PhD

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not becoming a teacher

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
No.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
A meal at Commander's Palace

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
*Vince, Gwen, Kim, Jason, Evan and Noah for putting me up in North Carolina
*Louie, Elly, Poppy and Chris for showing me New Orleans
*Ron for getting a fab new job and not having to move away
*Vicki for saving my ass and moving in with me (this deserves the biggest medal)

13. Whose behavior made you appalled?
The Serpent, a.k.a. Chris Smith. Ladies, beware.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent and University fees.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
*My holiday
*My research - I have seen so many interesting things in the course of my studies.

16. What song will always remind you of 2004?
There are four:

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. older or wiser? Slightly older, exponentially wiser.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Reading that wasn't associated with dead people.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Crying. I have become such a big girl's blouse.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I spent it with my family.

Six Feet Under.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I don't think hate is the right word, but I deeply resent a few people. I'm working on it.

26. What was the best book you read?
THE DRY SALVAGES by Caitlin R. Kiernan.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
The Dresden Dolls.

28. What did you want and get?
A place on the PhD.

29. What did you want and not get?
A home in Southend-on-Sea, a teacher-training course, enough money to get by, a job that I enjoyed.

30. Favorite film of this year?
I didn't see too many films this year.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 25. I went drinking with five friends in Manchester and got very drunk.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
If the promises of the company I work for had actually materialised, and if the fact that I am a female wasn't such a big factor in them not materialising.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?
Short hair. Skirts. Fishnet tights in any colour. Ballet shoes. Other people's clothes.

34. What kept you sane?
My friends and family. And they barely managed it.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Andrew McCarthy.

37. Who did you miss?
No-one.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Mr Vincent S Singleton, the Bristol Pistol.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004:
It's not worth making sacrifices for people who won't appreciate it.
